From Sunrise to Sunset
From Sunrise to Sunset, we were at one of our favorite state parks over the weekend. A place we have been to more times than I can count. Todays post is dedicated to my husbands son, my son in my heart. We have so many memories of hiking these woods with our son, when he was just a little guy waring his camo pants and running parkour all over this park.
This picture is him, when he first got to Texas for the Air Force, he looks so young here. He had to get use to the temperature, hot and lots of beautiful white sand in some places.
And now he looks all grown up, he came home last night as he gets a little time off before his next big adventure. He is shipping off to another country for 3 years. He is excited about the journey ahead, he is prepared. His Dad taught him all about being prepared and yet to still enjoy life. He knows who he is and what he wants and most importantly he knows the Father.
As you start your journey on this day, know this, I will guide thee with the Light of Me. For I the LORD, will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. For you shall not walk alone.
I send thee out with the Light of my Strength
Lean not unto your own understanding and I shall direct thy paths.
So from sunup to sundown, we think of this young man going off on the biggest adventure of his young life. And may our Father keep him and bless him all the days of his life.

Pasta and prosecco.. I hope he has an amazing time.. 😉
He is excited to go, he is leaving tomorrow. We were just looking at Google maps of where he will be. 🙂
What a beautiful blessing and sendoff to this young man and words he will treasure as he goes into the unknown. When next you see him, think of the tales he will tell you and your husband.
Thank you Linda, yes, we love listening to him when he comes home. He already has so many stories for such a young age.
I always thought the military was an excellent choice for a young man after graduation from high school if they are not sure if they want college, trade school – the experience and training and chance for schooling afterward makes it the way to go. The furnace tech who was here the other day was in the military then in the Coast Guard for 20 years and retired in 2016 and decided to have a new career and chose heating and cooling. Lots of options and a chance to see the world is a win-win in my opinion.
Yes, our boy is taking advantage of all of that. His buddy from high school went in at the same time. His contract is up in 8 months and he is getting out. It just wasn’t for him. But he will continue his education from home.
Glad his buddy can still take advantage of his education that way. One of my favorite clients was a career Marine. His son followed in his footsteps and now a granddaughter and grandson are also in the Marine Corp. Jack is very proud of all of them. Jack got out of the military and started a second career as a schoolteacher, retired from that and had a career as a private investigator. He volunteered his time as an advocate for a teachers union, but now is fully retired.
That is quite the life he has had. Service to others his entire career.
Yes, he was so excited they continued in his footsteps. He is very proud of them.
Wow you know a lot of times I think how hard it will be when my four year old will be a young lady and than I worry. It looks so unpleasant to let her go in this messy world. But everyday I pray she’ll walk with the Father who will always be with her and that is so comforting
Yes, that is where we find our comfort also, knowing He is with our son and our son is with him. We have to keep our faith and they will grow up into fine young people who know who they are in our Fathers name. Thank you Sheri.
Thanks to your son for his honorable service.
Thank you so much Tom, I will tell him that. 🙂
