From the Land of Texas

From the Land of Texas

From the Land of Texas, I am back to posting our journey from the state of Texas during February and March. Lots of new birds yet to come and landscapes of places I have never been to before.

Texas is a very big state and our first stop is Davy Crockett National Forest in Eastern Texas. It is nice to see pine trees again after the long stay along the gulf coast. During our stay here in February the day time temperatures are not to bad, but it did get down below freezing a few times at night.

This map below shows the journey we took across the state of Texas. From Al to Western Texas we traveled 3210 miles. We were in Texas for 2 months during February and March. Our initial plan was to slowly drop down to Big Bend National park, Texas is a long state, so each red dot is a park we stayed at along the way.

I have to say Texas has some beautiful parks and if you get the America the Beautiful National park pass, it gives you 50% off all national parks and Core of Engineer parks. So this park we are at today only cost 10 dollars a night and that includes electricity and water.

Art in the Park at Sunrise

Art in the Park at Sunrise

Art in the Park at Sunrise, A lot of parks are featuring artwork at times, such as statues made by local artist. I do like this one, it seems to be reaching to the heavens. I can not create a piece of art such as a statue, I do not posses that talent. But I do enjoying creating art with photography. So many different styles of art all created with imagination and the beauty that we see in our minds eye.

From Sunrise to Sunset

From Sunrise to Sunset

From Sunrise to Sunset, we were at one of our favorite state parks over the weekend. A place we have been to more times than I can count. Todays post is dedicated to my husbands son, my son in my heart. We have so many memories of hiking these woods with our son, when he was just a little guy waring his camo pants and running parkour all over this park.

From Sunrise to Sunset

This picture is him, when he first got to Texas for the Air Force, he looks so young here. He had to get use to the temperature, hot and lots of beautiful white sand in some places.

And now he looks all grown up, he came home last night as he gets a little time off before his next big adventure. He is shipping off to another country for 3 years. He is excited about the journey ahead, he is prepared. His Dad taught him all about being prepared and yet to still enjoy life. He knows who he is and what he wants and most importantly he knows the Father.

As you start your journey on this day, know this, I will guide thee with the Light of Me. For I the LORD, will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. For you shall not walk alone.

I send thee out with the Light of my Strength

Lean not unto your own understanding and I shall direct thy paths.

From Sunrise to Sunset

So from sunup to sundown, we think of this young man going off on the biggest adventure of his young life. And may our Father keep him and bless him all the days of his life.

What Beautiful Animal is This

What Beautiful Animal is This

What Beautiful Animal is This, we went to a new park yesterday, it was a gorgeous sunny day. We were walking along the back side of the park and came around a corner to see this beautiful, colorful animal enjoying the sunshine with the rest of us. I have never seen one of these with little spots everywhere.

What Beautiful Animal is This

Now this animal is usually pretty plain colored, but this one just made me smile. I did not have my camera at first, so I talk to this animal and said, ” Don’t go anywhere, I am going to go get my camera, I’ll be right back. ” And it did not move until I got back. I love the fuzzy ears like a bear.

What Beautiful Animal is This

And these large wonderful soft eyes. This is the most colorful one of these I have ever seen. Now most people may not think much of this animal, but me. Well I love all animals and I used to raise these along with horses.

What Beautiful Animal is This

Yep, it is a cow. I have never seen a cow with black spots and fuzzy ears. So cute to me. She was enjoying the sunshine on this beautiful Autumn day. I took plenty of photos to remember this gorgeous animal.

I am used to seeing plain cows like the one below. I like the poke a dots more. 🙂

Picnics in September

Picnics in September

Picnics in September, I don’t know about you. But, I love a picnic anytime of year. We have even gone to parks in the winter with snow on the ground. Parked next to a picnic table and have a wonderful lunch after a hike in the snow.

Picnics in September

Time goes by so fast sometimes. Mainly as I get older I guess. I will be turning 59 years old soon. I don’t remember a lot of my younger years. But what I do know now is that these are the best years for me. I have more understanding of life and of death.

There was always a fear of both when I was younger. I think, for me anyway, that wisdom comes with getting older and when I was ready to hear the truth, it really did set me free. Free to live the life that was given to me and not listening to the world and how it told me I should live.

I AM accountable to the Creator of the universe above all others

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
