Two In Flight Birds of a Feather

Two In Flight Birds of a Feather

Two In Flight Birds of a Feather, usually flock together. I know that Geese mate for life, according to the experts. I usually see a flock of them or two flying like this photo below.

Now these to are not mates, they are chasing each other, all day I watched them as they tried to defend their fishing spots from other birds. I don’t see them fly very often but boy when they do, they can really go fast. I will have a video of that one of these times.

And pelicans, well, they just hang out, gliding along like they don’t have a care in the world. I have never seen them go after each other like the Egrets do. They work together to catch fish and just look like they are always at ease.

I know Eagles mate for life, but I do not have one photo of two of them flying near each other. I have a few photos of two of them perched in a tree together though.

  1. Beautiful Sandra – the birds are so graceful. The first goose picture – one goose has its mouth open like it was talking to its mate or buddy. The geese in black-and-white are just as beautiful as in color.

    1. Thank you Ted, I had just noticed when I was thumbing through my photos, I had pairs of birds, but not the eagle. 🙂

  2. Beautiful, the eagles are magnificent, how lucky you are to have them near you. We have Cormorants and Egyptian geese in the lakes of our parks, outskirts of Brussels, Belgium. The cormorants are funny, the way they dry their wings…

    1. Thank you Sel, yes we have the Cormorants also, I have not gotten a photo of one of those yet. I find them so interesting also. 🙂

  3. Lovely shots, Sandra! I love the challenge of birds in flight, it is fun and gives us great angle perspectives showing more details and teaching us more about each bird.

    1. Thank you very much, yes, that is it exactly, you really get to see the muscles of the wings as they work and the details of the feathers are just incredible. 🙂

    1. Thank you Grace, yes lots of patience. I take a chair with and just sit and enjoy watching them. You have to sit quietly for them to fly so close to you. It is so much fun. 🙂

  4. One more reason to like pelicans. 🙂 Quite interesting montage, Sandra. And as always the pictures are magnificent. Thank you!

  5. Great photography. Such beautiful pairs and very rare to find eagles as in a pair to be photographed as usually I only see single eagles. Thanks Sandra for the effort and a deserved outcome of nature’s pictures for us.

    1. You are very welcome, I have one spot here on the river that I go to in the winter, that usually has a few eagles. I hope to see more again this year. 🙂
