Hiking Camping and Sunsets

Hiking Camping and Sunsets

Hiking Camping and Sunsets, yes an actual sunset instead of a sunrise. We have been camping all weekend at a very woodsy park along the Mississippi River. We like to go camping as much as possible in the fall just for the weather and the colorful trees when we can.

We hiked for miles with the dogs on Friday, not as many people yet at the campground and parks early on Friday. But this campground has 200 campsites and they were all reserved for the weekend. It was pretty busy on Saturday.

We actually stayed up to see a sunset over the Mississippi River, some clouds rolled in so the color did not appear for this sunset. But it was still pretty to stand on the shore and watch the sun disappear behind the clouds.

There wasn’t much for colored leaves here, most of the trees are bare already. They are preparing for the long winters nap. We will be going camping quite a few more times yet this year, even if it snows. That is the best time to camp and sit by the campfires.

We had to wait at the train tracks before waling back to the campground, you can’t hardly see a train without graffiti on it. It is always well drawn and artistic looking even though I can not read them most of the time.

  1. Just beautiful – a perfect camping weekend and perfect for a hike in the woods. That graffiti on trains must be a popular thing to do as I saw it on a train here recently too. I like the portrait of your dog, sitting perfectly, like a statue. 🙂

    1. Thank you Linda, she always has to be in front also when we are hiking. She stops often to look back to make sure we are all right behind her.

    1. Yes you do, she loves camping and walking in the woods. All I have to do is say the word camping and she heads for the door. 😊

    1. Thank you Jo, I love that one because the sun was behind her, the photo does not pick up what it really looked like. Her fur was just shinning. 🙂

  2. I agree about the graffiti. If you made it readable we would know what your message is. But we may not want that either, lol. I love fall and winter camping.

  3. The leaves are just now changing up in the mountains of Arizona. I will be starting out on some drives this week to enjoy the color.

    1. Have fun Emilie, it is so much fun to go on the drives looking for the fall colors. It was pretty dry around here most of the summer so the leaves are not as brilliant as usual.
