White Faced Ibis

White Faced Ibis – Pictures of the White-faced Ibis here at Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge—these birds are everywhere. Their rich coloration and long, curved bills make them stand out instantly from the crowd.

While the refuge doesn’t offer an easy view of a rookery, there is a cluster of trees deep in the center of the wetlands, surrounded by the drive loop.

I can see plenty of bird activity out there, but it’s just too far for capturing nesting shots.

Stay tuned for tomorrow—I’ll be sharing the Glossy Ibis. They look very similar, but when the sunlight hits them, they reveal an incredible display of iridescent color.

  1. Beautiful shot! We just had a rare appearance of a White-faced Ibis in Maryland at Blackwater NWR, I got to see it at a very far distance, but couldn’t get any photos, it was traveling with a flock of Glossy Ibis.
