Update on the Tree Swallows

Update on the Tree Swallows

Update on the Tree Swallows, Well, I did not get any purple martins at my bird houses this year. But the pair of Tree Swallow birds are still here. I lowered the bird house last week and they have 5 eggs in their nest. So maybe there will be little ones flying around soon. The eggs have been there for quite awhile it seems like. But I have seen them coming in and out of that apartment in the house.

Update on the Tree Swallows

Now, they are called Tree Swallows, so I am assuming they should be nesting in trees, but I think they like being barn swallows and/or apartment dwellers.

Last week I had a surprise visitor at our back yard. A mother black bear and her yearling cub. I will be posting photos tomorrow and a video on You Tube, it was an amazing thing to see.

  1. You are a great landlord Sandra – five wee ones to hatch soon (maybe hatched and moved out … I’m so behind here). Look at how they sparkle with the iridescent feathers.

    1. Yes, they should be hatching soon. It will be fun to see more of them flying around. It has been just the 2 all summer so far.

            1. Yes, this weekend it will be very hot again, last week wasn’t to bad. I don’t like the real hot weather either. 🙂 have a great weekend Seraja 🙂

  2. Soyour swallows decided the country life isn’t for them and moved to the city. Good for them Apartmrent living can be good but I wouldn’t raise a family in an apartment

    1. Yes, their eggs should be hatching soon. The bears were gorgeous and to see them that close was something .

  4. A black bear in your yard??!!! With a cub?!!! OMG! That sounds dangerous! Otherwise, love the pics of the swallows. They seem like home. 🙂

    1. Yes, I live on the edge of a national forest, I have only seen a bear once come out of the woods, but it ran off as soon as it saw me. But last week these two stuck around, just hanging out at the bird feeder. It was quite the experience for me. To be that close.

        1. Yes, one has to have respect for nature and the animals in it. Especially large animals like bears. I figure I am living in their territory. I give them their space. Even the birds 🙂
