My Favorite Silhouettes

My Favorite Silhouettes

My Favorite Silhouettes, just a couple of my favorite silhouette photos from this last year. I can’t just pick one, each one I remember exactly where I took the photo and it brings back wonderful memories.

Genesis tells you this, there is eternity in the Spirit.  By the time your eyes open in the present the future has already become your past.

A Drive to a New Lake

A Drive to a New Lake

A Drive to a New Lake, I found a new lake that I had not been to before. Well, the lake is not new, just new to me. A beautiful spot in the forest and it also had a wonderful campground right next to the lake.

A Drive to a New Lake

Lots of mushrooms and green moss everywhere, they look like little pancakes everywhere.

And a few wild flowers strewn about

This sign was at the entrance to the park, it reads; This area was harvested utilizing the clearcut method to salvage Balsam Fir and Spruce trees due to insect infestation and to promote new Aspen regeneration for Grouse habitat.

The picture on the left is the before and the photo on the right of the sign is the after. The forest before is prone to more insect disease and wild fires. It really was a remarkable area with lush greenery everywhere. This is where land management seems to work.

The Calm Before the Storm

The Calm Before the Storm

The Calm Before the Storm or is it the storm before the calm. I guess it goes both ways. A couple days ago I showed you Lake Superior on a windy day, storm waters stirring up the clay and dirt making this huge lake look more brown than blue. (video below)

The Calm Before the Storm

So this is kind of like the Glass half empty or is it half full kind of day. I like to think of life as half full. I go in search of the calm after the storm. I look for this calmness in nature, in creation.

Where these photos below are the same lake as above, but today the water is a beautiful blue, gently waves coming across the lake in a relaxing sound as I sit here next to the waters edge.

The Calm Before the Storm

I guess I have finally crossed that barrier in time, time meaning life. I do not go by the time man created, the ticking of the clock. But, by the life that is given to us. One life, that started way over there on the horizon and flows across to where I am standing now in the present.

So as I stand here looking at the vastness of this view in front of me, as if it represents the length of this journey of life for me. It brings a smile to my face, sure there were lots, I mean lots, of bumps and bruises to get to here. But after crossing that barrier, those thoughts fade away like the clouds in the distance.

Water, is like our spirits, our nature, it never stops moving. It gives life, it is life. I will continue to live life in the moment, for we do not know what tomorrow will bring. But what I do know is, the Spirit is returning unto the Father who He gave Her

Creation gives water to all that thirst.

Just a Little Wind Today

Just a Little Wind Today

Just a Little Wind Today, on this particular day the wind was blowing very hard so I decided to go up to Lake Superior to see how big the waves might be. Well, when it is windy at the lake, the water takes on different colors, there is a lot of clay and it gets all stirred up on windy days. (video below)

Just a Little Wind Today

So I was just walking along the beach, looking at all the trees laying on the beach and watching the waves coming in. It is pretty loud when the weather conditions are like this.

Waves have been known to be pretty big up here in certain areas along the shorelines.

Lake Superior buoys north of Marquette, Mich., part of the Great Lakes Observing Systemrecorded waves of 28.8 feet, the highest ever recorded on the Great Lakes. The measurement is an average of the tallest third of the waves over a ten-minute period, which means some waves could have been even higher.

And today some folks were taking advantage of the waves and the wind. These look like flying bonnets. 🙂

Just a Little Wind Today

But no, they are a couple of para sailors. I watched them for awhile, now it is pretty cold up here today also. I have to give them credit, they made it look like fun.

Just a Little Wind Today

Just one Ringed Billed Gull happen to fly by as I was sitting on this log enjoying a wonderful day at the lake.

The Year in Review

The Year in Review

The Year in Review, a collection of photos from the same location showing the changes of a sunrise. I love to travel and I go to many different locations as much as possible. But, on occasion I find a spot where my spirit is at peace. A place that I can return to and have that bit of familiarity and yet the scene is different every time.

This this is one of those spots that I go to quite often as you can see by the different sunrises. The tree line is always the same and has been for many years, only the colors change depending on the seasons. I like that.

The Year in Review

My entire life I was searching for that place of solitude, that place where I can hear the soft voice in my mind. That place where there are no distractions from the outside world.

sunrise over water

But I had a revelation a couple of years ago, come to find out I was looking in all the wrong places. All along I had to discover who I was, I had to quit running away from everything and run towards where my spirit and heart have been my entire life. The gift of life that is given to us from the very beginning.

reflections on a lake

That is when my eyes were opened, that is how I see creation. I don’t have to run anymore, I found what I was looking for, it has always been right in front of me.

One particle of pure Light, Intelligent design of Creation yours , mine, not the gods of man.

Therefore what He has put together, let no one separate.
