Portrait of the Reddish Egret

Portrait of the Reddish Egret

Portrait of the Reddish Egret, such a beautiful bird I think. When I photograph birds I take a lot of photos at one time when I can. I put my camera on burst and hold the shutter button when the bird looks like it is in the right light and position. On average 1 or 2 photos out of 20 will be sharp, but the photos that excite me the most is when I come across one like below that looks like it is posing for the camera.

This is what I find most enjoyable about wildlife photography.

When I find just the right photo I will often turn it into a digital oil painting as well. My artistic side 🙂

    1. You mentioned Joel before and I looked up his work and loved it. So I have been making a few photographs like that. It really showcases the subject and gives the photos such a dramatic but beautiful look to them. Thank you for mentioning him.

  1. These are fantastic !!! I love when photos like these come about. They’re so rewarding. I once got some close ups of an European starling. I actually cried. The bird literally looked like he was posing, just like you said. It was just an incredible experience. I love photographing birds, even though it takes patience. It’s worth it

  2. Those are incredible photos Sandra, as well as the digital painting. I like how regal it looks, as you’ve captured him just at the right angle, but then he posed for you, one foot out of the water and that was pretty amazing too!

    1. Thank you, I must clarify, it is digital oil paintings from my photos. If I could paint free hand I sure would, but technology and my photos, I can create what my mind pictures. 😊

  3. Gorgeous captures Sandra. I agree, this is a beautiful expressive bird, and its plumage is outstanding ! I especially love the wind blown appearance as it walks on the fourth pic.
