Another New Bird
Another New Bird, yep this is the Brown headed nuthatch. I never even think to look up how many species of one kind of bird there are until I see something new like this one. There are 4 kind of nut hatches in North America.
The Brown headed, Red Breasted, White breasted and the Pygmy nuthatch.
Red breasted nuthatch below. Looks more golden then red in my photo.
These two photos below I just grabbed off of the internet. I don’t have a photo of these yet. The one on the right is the Pygmy nuthatch which is found out west.
I may have a photo of the one on the left, the white breasted nuthatch. But I have not found it yet.

It is always fun to see a new bird!
Yes, it is fun to look them up to find what species they are, if possible. Some birds I have a hard time finding a name for them. I just skip it then.😊

Thank you, I have been photographing birds for years but only thought to start a list last year. It is fun to add to it, considering there are over 700 species in the states. Have a wonderful weekend RJ.
I hope you find your birds, I saw a Brown Headed Cowbird yesterday. Not a nice bird with how they they use other birds’ nests.
Yes, I have seen those birds as well. I do find birding so much fun especially when I can add another one to the list.

It is such a cute little bird and it was busy chipping away at a dead tree for a nest.
Are they as noisy as our European nuthatches?
Yes, this one was chirping at me constantly as I was to close, it was busy chipping away at a dead tree making a nest.
Yes over here their calls echo loudly through the forests
