White Pelicans on the Mississippi

White Pelicans on the Mississippi

White Pelicans on the Mississippi, well I am not any where near the Mississippi River this year and I do miss seeing these beautiful birds. Luckily I have plenty of photos to look back on when I want to take a look at these magnificent birds. So I thought I would share some of my favorites today.

  1. Such majestic birds! Whenever you posted them in the past, it was hard to believe they were on the Mississippi River that far north. 🙂

    1. Yes, the first time I saw them on the river, I was shocked myself. I always thought of those birds as being near an ocean. 🙂

  2. They are quite lovely. I live on the Illinois side of the Mississippi and work on the Iowa side. The pelicans soar over the bridges and really are amazing.

  3. The blue of the river is amazing. Love your pictures, Sandra. Say, why does the pelican in the third picture look blue? It’s only a shadow, right?

    1. Thank you Jo, yes it is just the shadows of the light around him. Makes it look more unique for sure. 😊

  4. And they say birds are the closest thing to dinosaurs. So always when I eat chicken I imagine I’m eating dino. Well, the pelicans also look the part. I wonder how they’ll taste. Obviously “tastes like chicken” would be the correct answer, no?

    Wonderful photography btw.
