What is Your Thought

What is Your Thought

What is Your Thought on this first photo. I am thinking Gull, Cars, Danger sign. Hmm, Roll up your windows, the gulls are back.

What is Your Thought

Yes they do tend to poop on things and there are always plenty of them.

What is Your Thought

But they are quite beautiful in flight.

ringed billed gull

And they can be quite photogenic on the artsy side of life.

  1. Amazing! I know nothing about traveling all over the country, what a wonderful looking place to explore.

  2. I like gulls too – you have got many gull moods here Sandra. I like taking pictures of them as they like to perch in place long enough that I can in a shot or two, even three, so I think they like posing.

    1. I think they like posing also, or they are just waiting long enough to see if we are going to throw them a snack. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. One or two winging over the beach is poetic. A flock of 30-40 screeing and squawking on the school lawns at lunch time is a nuisance.

    1. I bet, I have never seen that many in one place. Usually it is only a handful and I only see them by the river or lake around here. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I think the cars are more dangerous ๐Ÿ™‚ But seriously, this time of year when the gulls huddle on the empty docks, they are mostly quiet and look like snowballs from a distance. Kind of pretty when most other birds are gone…except geese. We have an overpopulation of geese, because of a large lagoon next to Lake Michigan. Talk about poo…annoying for outdoor enthusiasts! Your last still photo is quite lovely. The gulls cries used to annoy me until my son noticed Caspian terns mixed in with them this past spring as they passed to the north. They are prettier, and they sound different. More like demented ducks than mewling yelp barks of the gulls ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. My first thought was the danger posed by the cars (and the pollution they generate) to the gulls (or wildlife more generally) rather than any danger gulls pose to humans! Lovely pics as always, the last one is a stunner.

  6. I’m living very near by a lake district. There are some gulls too, which reach there by coming with the ships which enter Duisburg-harbor on the river Rhine.
I do think & even feel, when watching them as…
    …Flying amazing grace
THANK YOU very much for your wonderful professional shots

    1. You are very welcome, thank you. I think they are only pest to some people because they feed them. The way they can just hover and glide in the wind is quiet graceful and amazing.

        1. Yes, I had one picture of a snow goose. But I am thinking it was someone’s pet or something. It was a big one, getting extra food from somewhere.

  7. I love seagulls, but know they can become a bit annoying in a town/city. I’ve lived for a while in Leiden, Netherlands, which is about 15-20 km from the sea, but because of all the canals/water there were a large number of seagulls. It was part of the charm of the town for me, but the locals always tried to get rid of them, with no success ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. When I lived in Dublin, seagulls used to nest on the roof of my building by the sea. The cries of the young nesting birds were unbearable in the early morning, but when they were gone, it was missing. I like the artsy side of life.

    1. I have actually never seen a gulls nest and I would not even know where to look for it. I only see them flying by water usually. I can see the artsy side in just about anything. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  9. My thought was a sign that I saw in Oregon a few years back. It read โ€œHappy as a seagull with French friesโ€

  10. Grew up on Long Island and gulls were a part of life there .I remember hearing them at the house and feeling like I was being called to the beach!!! And when I was on the beach their beauty in flight was as calming as the water!!! I know they can be dirty but like all of us there are two sides to each one of us!

    1. That is so true, I find there wing span in flight are just gorgeous and there are so many different colors of them. And they are fun to photograph, they seem to hover, almost stopping in flight.
