Under the Shadow of Wings

Under the Shadow of Wings

Under the Shadow of Wings, I hear whispers in the wind. These tiny little birds are flying all around me, not afraid nor shy. They land on my camera at times as I am standing there near by.

Under the Shadow of Wings

I hear whispers in the wind from the fast beats of their wings. Who, who are these birds with their mighty wings?

Under the Shadow of Wings

But of course the tinniest of birds, the Chick-a-dee-dee-dee-dee

If you stay there long enough, you might see the Shadow of the Wings. May your spirit take refuge in what follows; In the Whispers in the Wind.

  1. They are so cute Sandra – I’ve been seeing more and more Chickadees at the Park and I think it is the sunflower seeds luring them. But they move so quickly, I rarely get photos of them, unless they are busy feasting and don’t see me (but that’s rare). They are cute. I think I mentioned I follow a bird photographer on Twitter – she is the photographer that I sent you her blog about the Canada Goose gosling and Sandhill Crane colt that were raised together. I love those daily videos as she has Chickadees sitting on her hand and picking up one seed after another while they decide which is better – sometimes they just sit there and enjoy it rather than taking it “to go” … that is very cool that they are sitting on the camera. Fearless.

      1. I participated in the Great American Bird Count today and a Chickadee was in the yard while I was shoveling snow. It was so cute and nibbled on berries the entire time I was outside … no camera, snowing again.

  2. Oh, Sandra, these are magnificent photos of apparently this group-thread’s favorite winter visitor. Their details and activities are captured beautifully. Thank you!

  3. I love the Chickadees Always a winter favorite. They make me smile as they flit in take a single seed then runaway to a secret place to eat. then flit back. Silly things

  4. I have my first birdhouse up in Mn. Those darling little chickadees are the so fun to watch. they are delicate but tough to be able to survive in this brutal cold.

    1. Always Wayne. I was leaning on a tree watching them the other day and a woodpecker landed on the tree right next to me face. He stayed there for a few seconds, it was amazing.😊
