Nature is a Perfect Example

Nature is a Perfect Example

Nature is a Perfect Example teaching us about life and survival. I have always been fascinated by observing nature, learning from it, watching how animals survive. Photography has really enhanced this study as I have to be in nature and wait patiently as I watch everything from birds, animals and even flowers and trees, go about their daily task called life.

How does something as tiny as a hummingbird survive looking for food, raising babies? Let alone wondering how they migrate thousands of miles every year. Instinct, DNA, survival mechanism that were given to them.

Ruby Throated Hummingbird

I was walking past my garden and a shinny reflection caught my eye, tiny ruby colors glistening in the sunshine on a leaf. I moved to look closer and it was gone. I went around to the other side of the leaf and their it was, the most beautiful color, shinning bright as the sunlight caressed these 3 little feathers stuck on a leaf.

They are 3 of the smallest feathers I have ever picked up. They are from the throat area of the Ruby Throated Hummingbird. They are so small I could barely keep them in my hand as I took them inside to get a photo of these marvelous little shinny feathers.

I put them next to a penny so you can see the size comparison. The hummingbirds sit on my fence around my garden and groom themselves. So this tiny feather probably fell out, right below the fence on a leaf.

Watching and learning from birds makes me think about how they survive on a daily bases. They search for food, they feed their family’s and themselves. Plus they appear to be happy, they enjoy sitting on a fence in the sunshine watching what is going on around them. I do that as well, sitting on my porch, not a fence. ๐Ÿ™‚

But, “๐•‹๐•™๐•– ๐•Ž๐•†โ„๐•ƒ๐”ป ๐•š๐•ค increasingly ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ง๐ž๐ to ๐๐ž๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ฎ๐ฌ. Happiness isn’t very good for the economy. If we were happy with what we had, why would we need more? How do you sell an anti-ageing moisturizer? You make someone worry about ageing. How do you get people to vote for a political party? You make them worry about immigration. How do you get them to buy insurance? By making them worry about everything. How do you get them to have plastic surgery? By highlighting their physical flaws.

To be calm becomes a kind of revolutionary act.

To be happy with your own non-upgraded existence. To be comfortable with our messy, human selves, would not be good for business.”

– Matt Haig,

Be the change! Learn how to be happy with what you have. Reprogram your mindset for positive outlook gratitude, calmness and most importantly ๐’๐’Š๐’—๐’† ๐’Š๐’ ๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐‘ท๐’“๐’†๐’”๐’†๐’๐’• ๐’Ž๐’๐’Ž๐’†๐’๐’•.

Reprogram and remove programming/conditioning that no longer serves you, the self limiting beliefs that keep you from growing to your full potential. โค๏ธ

Have a wonderful weekend. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Hummingbird feathers! How fascinating.

I absolutely agree with your sentiment in this post. We have found that exploring Nature helps us Live Our Best Life!

    All the best from Florida.

  2. That is a good mindset to have Sandra. Those are very tiny little feathers and thank you for giving us some perspective by putting the feathers next to a penny. Preened out and dropped by a hummingbird and surely, without the sun glinting just right, you might have never discovered those beautiful feathers.

  3. Sandra teaching. Love it. Thank you. Have a great weekend

โ€œFor this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?

And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!

Do not worry then, saying, โ€˜What will we eat?โ€™ or โ€˜What will we drink?โ€™ or โ€˜What will we wear for clothing?โ€™ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.โ€ [Matthew 6:25-33]

  4. It was amazing that you found a few feathers. The merest hint of a breath of wind would have blown them to oblivion. Observant photographers (at those with bird whisperers) capture some of the best photos.

  5. Comparing those feathers to a penny in that picture, really brought home how tiny those feather are, better than any amount of words. Great idea! Breathe in, breathe out, move on (from a Jimmy Buffet song).

    1. Thank you very much Margaret, I appreciate that. Nature has a way of putting everything into perspective for me. Have a wonderful day. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  6. How marvelous are those micro feathers Sandra, and all the detail is there just as if they were ten times the size, God is amazing ! What a blessing to find thee little feathers, even just to showcase them to us.

    1. It truly was quite something to find them, I wasn’t sure what it was when I first saw the reflection and then to pick up such tiny feathers from a beautiful little bird. The detail in creation is truly amazing.
