Over 1000 Species of Trees
Over 1000 Species of Trees in the US and over 60,065 species of trees in the world, according to a comprehensive study of the world’s plants. All these photos below I found in one small forest around me. My favorite is this first photo, the Aspen tree. The white bark with the black markings are so beautiful. This specific tree in the photo is right by me, I stop and put my hand on the bark every time I walk by it.
This next photo is Birch Tree, the bark peels off like paper. I could not identify the rest of the trees by the bark. I think I would need to buy a book to make it easier.

Lovely photos of trees. Thank you π
You are very welcome π
You are welcome π
I also love documentary trees around me. The birch tree is beautiful. Aspen trees are breathtaking. There are so many apps these days that has made the task of identifying trees possible without the need for any book or equipment. You can try them.
It is fun isn’t it. Yes I am going to get one of the apps. There are just so many different kinds, I love looking at trees.
Yes, its fun and I love what you are doing, Sandra. Deeply appreciating your efforts.
Oh my God! What a collection of lovely trees. Thank you for sharing.
You are very welcome, thank you π
the two vertical pictures are Western Red Cedar. Question?……….What tree holds the longevity record and how old is it? …and no you cannot look it up. They keep the location a secret.
Well, the only thing that I know of is the Red Woods. I have never been out that way to see them. But I sure would like to see them. All these photos of trees are in the same forest. But when I tried to find out what kind they are on the internet, I could not find a page that showed a picture that really matched mine.
this might help Sandra………..https://www.google.com/search?q=western+red+cedar+bark+picture&sxsrf=ALeKk02KllAjzrsBguxgb3zvaWbgDkEF4g:1618096641822&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=oUqV8FlX7zKD3M%252C8UMl2ZuO2vSU4M%252C_&vet=1&usg=AI4_-kQbHfLL1mUkw9wxR7hj1jGNnbRs1w&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj_3rDc5_TvAhVGsp4KHR2sCk8Q9QF6BAgJEAE#imgrc=oUqV8FlX7zKD3M
This helps a lot. This is what I was trying to find. Thank you Wayne.
I grew up in Eastern White Cedar country and unless you cut them open you can’t tell the difference!
Well, then it can’t be the Red Woods because everyone knows where they are. But I would think some of those have to be pretty old.
Bristlecone Pines, there is suppose to be one in Cali somewhere around 3800 years but in this article they say up to 5000 years?

That is such a cool looking tree. It said the pine cones take 2 years to mature. Fascinating, I have never heard of this tree. Thank you for sharing, I love to learn new things like this.
My pleasure Sandra.I’ve seen a Bristlecone and they are even more fascinating in person!

I wonder who counted them. π
We would be lost without trees. I love the first day when all the trees leaf out … the heat (81 degrees today and 79 yesterday) has caused the flowering trees to flower. The thunderstorm tomorrow will likely send those pretty blossoms flying – hopefully not. I like when you angle the shot upward … it makes us feel small next to the giant trees.
I love that also Linda, all of a sudden the leaves are all out like a magic wand was waved.
Yes! There were more out today – we had another warm day, so I’m thinking the bigger trees should be unfurling all their leaves. Beautiful – like a canopy over the street.
Beautiful pictures and amazing post…..
Thank you very much π
Lodgepole pine, and cedar I believe are the next two … π
Thank you, I tried finding the best
names on the internet but could not find the match. π

Spread Laughter Today
Good one, I wish I thought of that. That would have been my first line. You are always thinking of the funny side to life. Makes me laugh.
Beautiful. Sometimes when I eat a tree nut like a walnut or a pecan, I wonder if the branch would also have that taste (but have never tried to nibble branch.)
That is a good thought. Now I am wondering that. π
