Little Blue Heron
Little Blue Heron – A new bird for the year. Someone had told me they saw this blue heron and today I went for a walk, and their it was high up in the tree. I wasn’t sure what it was until I got home and looked at the photos.
Adult Little Blue Herons are very dark all over. At close range or in good light, they have a rich purple-maroon head and neck and dark slaty-blue body.

Thank you π
Their juvenile plumage is such a stark contrast to their adult purples and blues.
Someone here on the island saw the adult blue ones out by the airport. I went looking for them, but never did see one.
I wouldn’t have known this was a new bird. Wow! π€£ππ
I know, it looks like a heron βΊοΈ
I like those few feathers springing up – the wind or just typical for a heron?
Beautiful.
A lovely little bird Sandra
