Friday Birding My Favorite Thing

Friday Birding My Favorite Thing, every now and than the beautiful Pileated Woodpecker stops by. Never in a great spot for a photo. He likes to be up very high and there are always sticks blocking my view of him. But, you can still see his red feathers on top of his head. Such a gorgeous bird.

The dainty and lovable Chickadees are always out and about

What Does the Eyes See

The Nut Hatch Bird, this is my first photo of this tiny bird. They are just as fast as the chickadees. He looks all bright eyed and cheery in this photo below.

I don’t know if he is blinking or giving me the stink eye.

I know this bird is a finch, but I am not quite sure which one. There are so many that have a touch of red, ruby colored feathers. So I will just go with the term Finch for now.

  1. These pretty and dainty songbirds are so cute Sandra … when you see a big pileated woodpecker next to these small birds, it is hard to believe they are all “birds” – what a difference in size. These are such beautiful pictures.

  2. I have two dogs at home. They do so many interesting and funny things when my cellular camera is off. As soon as I turn on the camera app, they stop doing whatever they were doing.

    1. I know exactly what you mean Tom. My two dogs do the same thing. I have more pictures of them walking away from me then looking at the camera, good to know mine are not the only ones. 😊

    1. Thank you very much Tom, yes it does take patience. They don’t always stick around when I get the camera out. 🙂

  3. Beautiful photos – I can onlu imagine the sweet sounds fromt he adorable birds. Love the sights and sounds of nature.

  4. Lovely photos as always Sandra. Could the last bird be a Acanthis flammea. We use to have a lot of them in our garden some winters.

  5. Looks like a Redpoll of sorts. We get them here in the UK. Not sure if you get the same species where you are though. Great pics.

    1. I have not heard of a Redpoll, one of the things I love about birding. There are so many different species, I am always learning something new.. Thank you Clive.

        1. You know, maybe it is a Redpoll, because when I was trying to find the exact name, I found purple finch and house finch. They were similar to this bird, but the red feathers on the head did not quite match. I think the Redpoll looks exactly like it. Thank you Clive. 😊
