Yes – stretches too. My canaries would wake up and because they sleep with their head under their wing, it took them a few minutes to look like themselves … the bedhead, but one wing out, then the other wing out … slow to wake up like me.

Ha, cute. Last week Ron and I spent about an hour watching a white pelican try to down a huge fish stuck in its throat all while defending its prize catch from a horde of brown pelicans. Never did get it down, but did provide us some free entertainment. Great shots.
Yes, I have witnessed the white pelicans doing that. Sometimes it seems they just hold the fish in their bill and keep tossing it back and forth in the pouch. I could not figure out why they do that. Husband said maybe it is trying to tenderize it before it goes down the hatch. 🙂
