Yep Autumn has Started

Yep Autumn has Started

Yep Autumn has Started in the north country. I love it, I have one tree that always turns red earlier than any other tree. I love this time of year. The cooler temperatures, the warm fall colors. So many beautiful things to see this time of year.

The yellow daisies are still in full bloom. Cool mornings lead to sitting on the porch, enjoying a hot cup of coffee and watching all the activities that go on this time of year in nature.

My bird feeder has plenty of activity again, all the song birds are here enjoying the cooler weather and getting their fill of food. And they do not seem to afraid now, I have been walking right up to the feeder with camera in hand.

The spiders are every where, catching bugs in their webs. Storing them up for winter I guess. In the morning dew, the water droplets stick to their webs everywhere in the grass.

And fields of golden colors blanket the earth. Bees and Grasshoppers enjoying the last of the summer flowers. Maybe Autumn will last longer this year, warming my heart and mind with an abundance of color.

I have been so busy the last couple of days enjoying this cooler weather. Even the deer are back and for some reason, I have a lot of photos of deer sticking there tongues out at me, or just licking its nose. 🙂

      1. those would be Maples I assume. Some trees do turn early. I bet next year they’ll be the first to turn again.
I was back in my home town of Peterborough a few weeks ago. Didn’t see any trees turning there and they are further north than you. Must be a localized event?

        1. Yes, they are two maple trees, nothing else has turned. This area has a lot of pine trees, but some areas here were heavily harvested for lumber. So the bare land that used to have pine trees fills in now with maples. And a lot of birch trees. I like those.

          1. yes,I have seen that before…..where “a” tree will turn in the middle of summer each year the same time. I haven’t a clue why? Maybe a Arborist would know?

  1. La la la la la I don’t want to hear it Even though the felt is coming off the bucks around here. It will still be summer in Ohio until October as far as I’m concerned

    Stay well and laugh

    1. I can just hear your voice saying that. I know what you mean. My husband loves hot weather. It can be 90 degrees out and he will want to wash the jeep. Me, as soon as it cools off I like to be in the forest or anywhere do some hiking. I grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, I like colder weather. 🙂

  2. Wow – the Fall colors already Sandra. I love the Fall too and it’s always been my favorite season. I love the chill in the air, the colors, not just as to leaves, but the colors of the harvest season – even the food is to my liking. You have captured this cute bird, the beauty of the backyard spider webs with dew and I love the deer sticking out its tongue at you!

    1. Thank you Linda, i have just the one tree that always turns first. And it is just a skinny little maple tree, but so pretty. I love the fall colors also, like the orange of pumpkins and the crunchy leaves when walking in the woods.

      1. Me too Sandra – even though it signals that Winter is on the way. This one bush at Council Point Park has more red and yellow leaves – the only one in the entire Park – so strange, just like your tree being first.

  3. I love summer but it has been very hot this year so I’m looking forward to the fall. Glad things are cooling off you tho! Sadly, we won’t feel the cooler temps in South Florida until late September/October. Love your photos as always!!

    1. Thank you so much Maria, same here, it has been in the 90 most all of July. So after that I enjoy the cooler weather.

  4. Thanks for the post and pictures Sandra. I’m glad for you, regarding cooler weather. I must say, however, that it appears we exist in alternative universes because it is ULTRA SUNNY where I am down south of you and will stay that way for the most part for the next three months, sans whatever activity in the Gulf may transpire (not a fan of summertime). Maybe fall will arrive earlier for all of us. It is a great time of year. You are blessed.

    1. I am not a fan of summer either. I like the cooler evenings when you can sit by a fire and leave the windows open at night. I am way up north right now. 46 degrees at night. 🙂

      1. Yes, I think they are both here. 🙂 I actually picked a leaf off the carrot one and they do smell like carrots. 🙂

      1. my next door neighbor and I were just talking to how some of the trees here are changing colors

        1. Yes, I am surrounded by forest. And today I see two maple trees turning red. And last year I almost missed the color change. It seemed to happen so fast and then the leaves were gone.

            1. Yes, I grew up here. There are a lot more maple trees here now then back then. Makes for more color for sure.

  5. Stunning photos (as always) and lucky you to have cool mornings and a hint of Autumn – we are still hot and humid and will be to the end of September…I really need to move LOL

    1. Thank you Grace, I have always associated September with cooler weather, it is nice to have some cool evenings this month. It was still in the 80 today tho.

  6. The title of the article saddened me. Despite the hot temperatures I still don’t want summer to end. But the pictures illustrating your title are so pleasing to the eye. I love autumn colors. Oh, and I could enjoy a post full of disrespectful deer. 🙂

    1. I know, I remember taking photos last winter and my fingers were freezing, could not wait for warmer weather. I do love the changing of seasons though. I will put together the photos I have of the deer. I have not seen any for a couple months and last night there were 5 of them at my bird feeder.

        1. Yes, they come out of the forest in the evenings and eat the bird food that is left over. I did not see any last night tho.

  7. I have seen a lot more deer on the roads. In PA, you swerve to avoid potholes, deer, and groundhogs (don’t know if the one in the road is Phil or his cousin). People? They defy you to run over them – a crazy, crazy place. At least the deer and groundhogs will run off the road when you drive up.

    1. That is so true Mark. I have not seen any deer for a couple months and last night there were 5 of them at my feeders.

        1. Yes, that usually is around October. I have not seen any bucks in a couple years. All females around here. One female was at the back of my place and I took my dog out, and she started running at us. That was weird. I yelled at her and she bolted off.

          1. Yes, I have only seen females, and they aren’t in a hurry to move. But it is odd seeing them in the road, near noon, this time of year. It’s odd, Julie of cookiecrumbstoliveby noticed a red leaf and wrote about a harbinger of Autumn, if not something more sinister. It cannot be a coincidence if two wrote similar thoughts. Thanks for your post.

            1. I just read her post also. Isnt that something. Both red leaves, a sign of something coming. Like she said, with the times we are in, one doesn’t know for sure if it only means Autumn.

  8. Nice post! Each season has it’s own beauty. I love the heat of summer, but the slightly cooler fall is refreshing, and of course the beautiful leaf colors brighten our days.
