Wormsloe Mile Long Entrance
Wormsloe Mile Long Entrance avenue lined with live oaks is a classic image from the moonlight and magnolias Old South. Found here in Savannah GA.
In the 1890s, Wymberley Jones De Renne laid out the live oak avenue, to celebrate the birth of his son.
A breathtaking avenue sheltered by live oaks and Spanish moss leads to the tabby ruins of Wormsloe, the colonial estate of Noble Jones (1702–1775). Jones was a humble carpenter who arrived in Georgia in 1733 with James Oglethorpe and the first group of settlers from England.
If you enjoy seeing Live Oak trees, make sure to visit this beautiful place. Wormsloe occupies the southern portion of the Isle of Hope, a peninsula four miles long and as much as a mile wide near Savannah Ga.

That amazing to see the tree tops touching one another as they lined this road.

Wishing you a happy 2023!!
Thank you very much and a wonderful new year to you as well 😊
Great photo Sandra! One must love the history also. Georgia was founded as a free colony where all were welcome and had a great start. One must appreciate the work and vision that went into the creation of this grand natural avenue and that it still exists in such great condition.
Yes, it is amazing to see places like this that are somewhat preserved in their natural state. Especially the trees. Up north it seems like people have no issues with cutting down trees to put up another store or something. This place was truly amazing to see.
The oaks and moss were my vision of the old south long before I lived here. Beautiful 👏
I never even knew about live oaks until we started traveling down here.
This is an old plantation entrance, lined with oaks and moss. The building is on the site of the first place Charleston was built. The whole town moved a little later. Swamps don’t make for easy living 😁
