Wild Carrot Blooms

Wild Carrot Blooms

Wild Carrot Blooms, Often mistaken for Queen Anne’s lace (Daucus carota), are growing everywhere around me. They look similar but the leaves are different. So I had to look it up to find out what type of flowers these are.

Queen Anne’s Lace generally refers to different plant varieties provided that they belong to the Daucus carota family.

Wild Carrots Blooms

Many people confuse Wild Carrot, Bird’s Nest, and Bishop’s Lace to be a type of Queen Anne’s Lace. In reality, they are the different names given to the same plant. They are similar but still different in ways we cannot not always see with the naked eye.

Wild Carrots Blooms

Wild carrot blooms in flat clusters; when flowers pass, pedicels turn upward into a birds nest; when seeds ripen, spreads open again facilitating adhesion to passing animals. This is how they continue to survive, sending the seeds out to start a new plant.

So it looks like the original plant of this species is edible, but over the years they have cross bred the plant to make similar plants, some of which are poisonous. Hmm, so the first one, the original flower, that one produces the good seeds.

But you have to know what you are looking for to find the good seeds, you have to see past the man made plants. The ones that are trying to imitate the original One. It goes back to seeing and hearing in the Spirit not the flesh.

Nature is not in the Garden of Man; it only Exists in the Garden of Eden in the spiritual world of your mind, body and spirit.

Wow Sandra, your post paints a powerful picture of the reason why it is so important to regularly read and be well grounded in the Word of God. Through the Word, His Spirit will help us identify what are the original edible and which are an imitation and potentially poisonous. I know I will think of this lesson anytime I see Queen Anne’s Lace and any of its close counterparts. Thank you!

    1. That is it exactly Beth, when I read something or look up information for anything like these flowers. When I read in the spirit, I see a different meaning to what I am reading. As if everything is written in parables, little reminders everyday to keep His word in my mind all the time. Then there is no room for the flesh of things that bombard us everyday. It is amazing how He shows us His hands all the time. Thank you Beth, have a wonderful afternoon.

  2. I would have just lumped all those frilly-looking items into one category: Queen Anne’s Lace. See – what do I know?! You certainly have captured their beauty in these photos Sandra.

  3. Since I can’t tell one from the other,I will enjoy them all from a distance – and will not try eating any of them! I love your photos! <3

    1. You are welcome Mr. Ohh, and the ones called Wild Carrots have leaves that look similar to carrot tops. And they smell like carrots, hence the name I guess. But, I am not suggesting to eat them. 🙂 Have a great evening Mr. Ohh.

  4. It started with one plant (a seed probably brought by birds) and now I have lots of wild carrots (the original ones) and they are gorgeous, so delicate.
Thank you, Sandra. Have a great day.

    1. You are welcome Francine, they are beautiful. I have so many. From a distance it looks like giant snow flakes floating in the air.

  5. Sandra, I did not know this a about what I know to be Queen Anne’s Lace. As for your message, our minds our on the same page today. My post mirrors yours just differently. 1. Thank you Jo, it is an interesting looking plant. They look like little bugs at first. I am glad they aren’t though. 🙂
