Utah’s Red Rock Country
Utah’s Red Rock Country – Of all the common colorful minerals found in Earth’s crust, few are as abundant, dynamic, and multi-colored as iron. Depending on how it combines with other elements, iron can form a veritable rainbow of colors. When iron combines with oxygen it becomes iron oxide, and its degree of oxidation largely determines its color.
Hence the multi colors found at Zion National Park, we only drove the scenic route at Zion, but if we ever get back there one must take the hiking route into the canyon where you will find pools of emerald colored water and lush garden plants. Amazing the world we live on.

Why are you trying to touch the sky, Oh Hills ! Can you not believe, that, there is nothing like sky.. A false nothingness only..
You have a beautiful way with words. 😊
Thank you really 🙏😊
The color of these rocks is amazing. My boss took a family trip about 5-6 years ago and went whitewater rafting in Moab, Utah. I remember seeing his pictures from there taken from the raft with all the red rocks – gorgeous.
They are so pretty especially with a touch of green here and there with the trees. 🙂
Striking colors for the landscape!

Besides Texas, Utah is our second favorite state. We would live there in a second. We never ever get tired of red rocks, and your red rock photos depict them beautifully.
We only stopped in southern Utah, I sure liked it also. 😊.
Thank you 🙂
beautiful images.
Thank you 🙂
Even the road is red ! Wonderful photos.
Thanks Sandra. Have a great day.
You also Francine, thank you
It is an amazing planet…🌎❤
Yes it is 🙂
Great beauty captured Sandra. Don’t try to use a compass with all the iron in the rocks…I learned that the hard way in the wilderness north of the iron range area of Minnesota. One might as well draw an arrow on a finger and point because that’s what the compass does with iron all around.
I never even thought to get the compass out there. Good to know for next time 🙂
Unbelievable red flower!
😎 cool Pix. I heard some of the canyon lands have been getting flooded by freek rains❗️
I skied and lived in Park City, UT for 12 yrs & never made it to any of Utah’s beautiful National Parks…. Thanks for sharing 🙂
You are very welcome, 🙂 thank you
Wow Sandra, what a fantastic place and there is even life on the red rocks 🙂
Yes, those red flowers are a nice contrast to the red rocks. 🙂
Sturdy rocks keep the terrain beautiful!
Yes indeed 🙂
