The Yaak River in Montana

The Yaak River in Montana

The Yaak River in Montana, we are eastward bound, leaving the great state of Montana. We will be traveling on Interstate 90 and today we are under a winter storm watch here in Montana. They have been getting a lot of rain and snow this year.

The Yaak River in Montana

The interstate runs all along the Yellowstone river and if you have not heard, the Yellowstone river is flooding. They actually had to close Yellowstone National Park because the river has washed out the roads in the park. So I hope the road we are traveling on won’t be washed out either.

Montana – Big sky country.

  2. Good luck when you get near Yellowstone – pictures I am seeing out of there are not good, but looks like they are working quickly to put at least the entrance sections back.

    1. Yes, we have gone by Yellowstone already, we saw a few places along the highway that were under water all along the yellowstone river. My brother lives in western Montana where they were so close to wild fires last year and now flooding this year. He said the water is receding now in his area.

  3. What a beautiful area and I had heard of the Yellowstone flooding but had seen water flooding pics but none of the highway – wow. You were lucky this started after your time in Montana. The weather is still bad they said.

    1. Yes, my brother lives by Yaak river as well, and now the road is closed for them to leave their place, but they are really high above the river.

  5. Winter storm watch? I had to double check the post date-ha ha, only because we are in excessive heat warnings for at least another week. Didn’t even consider the mountains in June. But, now I remember when we lived in Colorado, snowing at high elevations in June happened. I hadn’t heard that about Yellowstone. Wonderful pictures. I especially like the one with the road- that’s a huge chunk missing. Love this post, I’ve never been to Montane. Looks like going sometime would be amazing.

    1. They normally don’t have winter watches this time of year, it was strange to wake up to snow and rain in June. 😊
