The World of Finches

The World of Finches

The World of Finches, Finches are a colorful addition to any back yard and to our bird list if we have one. Which I am up to 137 now. There is one bird on this post that I don’t know what it is, mostly black with a bit of yellow under the bill.

Plus a video link to my You Tube channel showing a Green Heron hunting fish, I think I forgot to add this one a few days ago, Link Here; Green Heron

Lesser Goldfinch

Gold Finch

I don’t know what this one is. If anyone has a guess let me know and I will add it to my list.

  1. Beautiful finches Sandra and 137 on your bird list is impressive. We have a goldfinch at the Park. One of them and it is already there flitting around looking for something to eat. If I knew I could take a nyger seed bag and no one would swipe it like last time, I’d that … once the thistles are back, the goldfinch likes to perch on them.

    1. I am actually at 150 today, this park here has kingbirds, and I did get a photo of the magpie, not a good photo but you can tell what it is.

      1. That’s exciting – 150 birds … this is just on this trip or since you started birding/photography? That is a lot of different birds. I still think you should contact the National Audubon Society and tell them of your list … they may be interested in some pictures or videos.

  2. Believe the mystery bird is a male Lesser Goldfinch. You might be getting some regional mixing there, but east of the Rockies have the black backs.

  3. These are such beautiful birds! I have never gotten into birdwatching, but this makes me want to start

    1. Bird watching is so much fun, because there are so many different kinds and very colorful some of them. 🙂

  4. Nice! I would love to lay my eyes on a purple finch. Was the unknown finch seen in the West or in Texas. My recorded list of World birds is 299. I forget what my USA list is up to! Have a nice evening.

    1. It was in Texas for the unknown bird. That is an awesome count. I am up to 147, came across some cliff swallows today. They are just like barn swallow with more color. 😊
