The Trumpeter Swans are Back

The Trumpeter Swans are Back

The Trumpeter Swans are Back – They are loud and somewhat musical creatures, with their cry sounding similar to a trumpet, which gave the bird its name. There is still a little snow on the banks of the river, but it sure is nice to see them again.

    1. I wasn’t sure I would even see any here Wayne, according to the Audubon, they are not marked as being in my area. But an individual told me about a place he sees them, so I went there a few days ago and there was one pair. The only information I found is that they go east or west from the mid west during the winter.

  1. Beautiful. I’ve sadly never seen or heard them in real life being in the UK but seeing your photo is the next best thing. Wonderful photo, Sandra. xx

  2. Beautiful swan photos Sandra. I’ve seen Trumpeters just a handful of times and always flying overhead. I hear the sound of their wings, the humming and I look up. I’ve never seen the Mute Swans in flight, though I saw one land in the middle of the Creek and I had to jump back quickly to avoid splashing the camera as it came down with a huge splash.

      1. Yes, maybe you’ll see a nest and can see and photograph cygnets once they hatch. That’s another goal for me. I try looking at Dingell Park as there are a lot of swans there – sometimes I’ll go and just see one or two; other times a large group of them. But no cygnets, especially on the mom’s back.
