The Scarlet Ibis

The scarlet ibis, sometimes called red ibis (Eudocimus ruber), is a species of ibis in the bird family Threskiornithidae. It inhabits tropical South America and part of the Caribbean. In form, it resembles most of the other twenty-seven extant species of ibis, but its remarkably brilliant scarlet coloration makes it unmistakable.

This picture below is a photo that I took in Louisiana, the white Ibis. My first time seeing an Ibis bird.

Have a great weekend.

  1. I have only seen one in the wild and from a long distance away. Beautiful, but then I like anything that is bright red. Almost anything – sunburn comes to mind…

  2. Beautiful and vibrant color for this Scarlet Ibis Sandra – wow. The White Ibis with its long beak is also striking to look at, but the scarlet coloring is amazing.

  3. Thank you Sandra. I’m really appreciating this series on such unique birds including this one. The colors are extraordinary. One wonders about the purpose for giving one of these birds such a bright red color. Have a great weekend

    1. I am amazed every time I see a new bird, and yes the colors are extraordinary on so many different species. One can only imagine what eternal life with Him will be like and the beauty it will hold. Have a wonderful weekend as well RJ.

      1. Hi Sandra. I just discovered that you had made a reply to my comment eight days ago (4/26) on my site. WordPress had put your comment in my spam folder for some odd reason. I posted it this morning. Thank you for the comment and again for reading. Hope you’re having a great weekend.
