The Rose Garden

The Rose Garden

The Rose Garden – Not my rose garden, I have never actually planted a rose bush in my flower garden. Not sure why not, I guess I have heard they need a lot of care and I don’t have the greenest of thumbs. 🙂

But I love photographing roses, so many different kinds. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

  1. Roses are so beautiful – we only have one rose bush in our landscaping and somehow it keeps surviving our brown thumb ability to kill it.

  2. Very pretty and delicate Sandra. When my garden looked nice, I did have roses and over the years experimented with different types … tea roses have one bloom, it dies and takes forever for another to bloom, climbing roses are gorgeous but they take a while to get to where they ramble and look gorgeous, but shrub roses are easy to grow and maintain.

      1. Yes, try a couple Sandra. Shrub roses are great and they bloom continuously. Mine are red and called “Home Run”. If you have heard of “Knock Out” shrub roses, often used for hedges, they are a variation of the Knock Out shrub roses. They are disease tolerant which is good as I had climbing roses I bought to make a tribute garden to my mom and Sugar (both who passed away in 2010) and I bought bare root roses and ordered them from Jackson & Perkins directly as I wanted “Stairway to Heaven” roses. They had blackspot and did very poorly, so I finally tore the three bushes out before they killed everything else.

    1. Wow, that must have been beautiful. I have never had one. I might now want to get started with them. We have a lot of clay here where I live. No black dirt. They might not like it here.
