The Osprey Nest

The Osprey Nest

The Osprey Nest – the osprey birds are picking out their nesting boxes. I photographed this one below at sunrise, as the osprey was perched on top of the man made nesting box.

The Osprey Nest

It must be exhausting making their nest. I was watching these two one morning, the one bird is going back and forth bringing one branch at a time. But when I looked closer at the bird perched on top, its eyes are closed.

Trying to get a nap in while its mate is bringing in housing material. He is just going to rest a minute. Needs a quick cat nap. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I see a lot of Osprey when I am in Kino in Mexico.
Now that I am in the southeast US, Iโ€™m seeing birds I donโ€™t know and hearing birdsongs that I donโ€™t recognize.
I have had two spectacular sightings: a bald eagle, about 15 feet away from me, who was on the ground and took off suddenly and startled me, and a whooping crane!

    1. How exciting Emilie, I think this year has been one of the best birding years in a long time. I have added 52 new birds to my list.

  2. That’s quite a fancy man-made set-up for the Ospreys … at least the nest isn’t next to a siren like “my” Ospreys built their nest next to the fire station siren. ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. It’s a good idea – it encourages the ospreys to nest there and birdwatchers can follow their nesting habits and youngsters.

  3. Ugh, getting those darn comment submission errors – tried to comment on all your posts, but only a few are getting through – very odd. Oh well, that last shot is amazing – has a very foreboding The Stand type of feel to it.

    1. I will check the spam folder when I get home. Sometimes I am finding stuff in there. Don’t know why though.

    1. Thank you Kellye, yes it was. They did not seem to mind me standing where I was. They are quite the builders as well

  4. Nice osprey and sky photos. Remember, don’t look like a mouse around them.

  5. The pictures look great, Sandra! Just an FYI, I believe there is an issue with the embedded link; I believe a typo caused it to not be correctly showing.

Thanks for sharing and have a great week ahead!๐Ÿ˜Š

    1. Thank you Katherine and thank you about the link, I will check it out. I write my blogs a couple weeks in advance when we are traveling and I don’t always get to proof them but sure appreciate others letting me know so I can fix them. ๐Ÿ˜Š

      1. Of course, I’m happy to help out! I understand how these things work. It might possibly be imprinted in my consciousness as a result of my previous IT-related jobs. ๐Ÿ˜ŠโœŒ

        1. Nice, that would be quite the job. I ha r another blogger who helps me when I get spelling wrong, which I appreciate. Spell check doesn’t always work 100 percent.

          1. OMG, yes! I used to have a friend who would do that for me, and every tip is greatly appreciated. ๐Ÿ˜

I was reading a book today (The Game of Life and how to play it, by Scovel Shinn), and it said that there are no friends or enemies in this world, they’re all teachers. โ™ก

I think that thought is great.
