The Colors of Summer

The Colors of Summer

The Colors of Summer, I believe I mentioned awhile ago that the hummingbirds seems to have already left my area. Well, they are back, or they were just waiting for all my flowers to bloom so they could enjoy them.

I planted lots of zinnia’s and cosmos and a few other things to bring bright colors to my yard for the hummingbirds and butterfly’s.

They are buzzing all around the gardens, enjoying the warm weather and bountiful nectar found all around my yard. This has been the best year for flowers for me. I planted them all over 2 months ago and thought they were never going to make it for the birds, bees and butterflies, but they did.

So much fun out in the gardens this month.

Oh, and the little goldfinches are enjoying my bird bath as well.

  1. You truly grasped the essence of summer, Sandra I love how zinnia’s radiate the best of summer colors and that they benefit birds, butterflies, and bees.

    1. Thank you Beth, yes they are an easy flower to grow and the colors are so vibrant and refreshing to our gardens. The hummingbirds are having a great time going from flower to flower.

  2. What a beautiful collection of visitors to your gardens Sandra. Do you have a solar bubbler in your birdbath or did that goldfinch just make a big splash?

    1. Thank you Linda, yes that is a solar bubbler. It works so well. I have to clean the filter a lot but it works great.

      1. That’s good Sandra. My friend/neighbor Marge had one and she loved watching the birds bathing in it … it kept the bath cleaner too as she could no longer clean it as well as her health declined.

      1. I let a few milkweeds grow in our garden. Even with those, we see precious few Monarchs around. Plenty of hummies though.

          1. Give it a season or two, we are nearly all clay here and I have a couple dozen plants. Want some seed pods this fall? 😏

            1. Ya know, I have never even seed a milk weed in Michigan. I brought a bunch of pods from Iowa up here and non of them grew. To cold maybe for to long.😬
