The Colors of Autumn

The Colors of Autumn

The Colors of Autumn, Yes, this is my favorite season. Warm, comforting colors surround us in nature. I have been so busy getting outdoors as much as possible. The weather is so nice right now, cool mornings give me more energy to enjoy walks in the park. So yesterday we went out for a stroll to see some fall colors and they did not disappoint.

The Colors of Autumn

In the fall, because of changes in the length of daylight and changes in temperature, the leaves stop their food-making process. The chlorophyll breaks down, the green color disappears, and the yellow to orange colors become visible and give the leaves part of their fall splendor.

The Colors of Autumn

Autumn leaves turn fiery-red in an attempt to store up as much goodness as possible from leaves and soil before a tree settles down for the winter.

The Colors of Autumn

It is a nice bright sunny day when I took this photo below of the yellow flowers. One thing I like to do with flower photography is create a dark background to bring out the colors of the flowers.

A simple way to do this with your camera is to use a fast shutter speed. This photo is shot at 1/2000 of a sec. Which is the speed I use to photograph birds flying also. It is a fun little trick to try, it gives the photo a nice look like a portrait I think.

  1. Beautiful colors Sandra and reflections as well. l think Fall is my favorite season due to the changing colors and the crispness in the air – often Spring is already hot and morphs right into Summer. I do think the flowers blooming and the flowering trees would be a close second but Fall is my favorite by far. I have collected some yellows and reds and orange colors as well and have an idea in mind how to use them.

    1. There is just something to enjoy with every season, I even like the first snow of winter because it is just so pretty especially on a sunny day.

      1. Yes, that first snow is pretty – even when it fell on the pumpkins and red and gold leaves last year – it was pretty, then it melted. I wish I was not reluctant to drive in the snow, then I might enjoy the season more. I’m content to walk in it, but I never drove in all my working days – I took the bus downtown and rode with someone in the building the last 2 years I worked on site. I am just down the street from the bus stop, so never had to drive to the bus stop either, so I had it made, but never honed my driving skills much. The first Winter I drove, I hit an icy patch in my VW Bug and spun around several times, just missing a ditch, so that event is probably what tainted me for life. I was on my way to school, exams after the first semester – I was a bundle of nerves. I even took driver’s training in the Winter so I would be better prepared.

          1. Yes, they think they are fearless. I just sent a link to a Finnish blogger yesterday of the bad accident in January here a few years ago. It was a 150-vehicle pileup. Only one person died, ten hurt – the video was just incredible.

  2. One thing about living in the desert is we donโ€™t get those magnificent fall leaves. Thanks for showing me some fall color.

  3. Your photography skills are phenomenal! I love the closeups of the leaves. Yes, autumn is my favorite season, too … until spring. And then spring is my favorite! It’s the colors in both those seasons that draw me to them. Thank you for capturing them so artistically and sharing with us! <3

    1. You are so welcome Jan, yes fall has it’s own beauty for sure and I love the cooler weather in the evenings. The trees are just starting to turn now.

  4. Is there a season more beautiful than autumn? Can’t wait to embrace every ounce of it ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚ Thanks for sharing such fantastic photos and I look forward to seeing more ๐Ÿ˜Š have a good weekend ๐Ÿ˜Š Aiva

    1. Thank you Maria, yes I love to create darker background especially with flowers. And when the sunlight is just right and you go for a higher shutter speed, it is so much fun to see the results. A wonderful weekend for you also. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. These are beautiful! Autumn always seems like it’s showing off its colors and reminding us to remember them through the long, drab sleep of winter. Winter has its own beauty, namely that of its contrast with colorful birds and berries and a brilliant blue sky ๐Ÿ™‚ I love seeing your photos every morning!

    1. Thank you so much Mary, yes, I still enjoy winter also. There is just something about the fresh snow when it is falling that is so beautiful. ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a wonderful day Mary. ๐Ÿ™‚
