Texas is Big Sky Country

Texas is Big Sky Country

Texas is Big Sky Country, well they say Montana is Big Sky also, but Texas can give it a run for its money on that title. I think anywhere that is pretty flat when you can see the horizon can be considered big sky.

This photo below is Lake Superior in the winter, lots of sky here as well.

There is a bird blind at Franklin State Park, this is where I discovered the Desert Cardinal below.

  1. Beautiful bird shots Sandra and how amazing to see where the sky meets the soil, or in the case of Lake Superior, the snow-covered sand. On a clear day, you can see forever.

  2. Ignore my test, was getting the nonce error again and trying to figure out what is causing it. Then it goes and works sigh. Anyway, love the shots – the Pyrrhuloxia along with the Phainopepla are two the hardest to spell and say – probably why we use the Desert Cardinal and Shining Robe names to keep us sane ha!

  3. Great photos, Sandra, especially for me the last one. That dove appears positively regal. It looks as though the two of you got together in a studio setting and the bird cooperated well with an excellent pose. On a subject of many I know nothing about, your work would have to fare very well in photography competitions. Maybe you already have such credits on your resume. Also, having spent a lot of time in West Texas, it is certainly Big Sky Country with some of the very best sunsets on the planet. Have a great weekend.

    1. Thank you very much RJ, yes Doves are wonderful subjects to photograph, they sit still longer and just seem to be staring off into no where. I like these, with that touch of gold coloring on the side of their heads. Have a wonderful weekend as well.
