Sunrise Above the Fog

Sunrise Above the Fog

Sunrise Above the Fog, a couple of weeks ago we went out to our favorite lake to see the Super Moon set. It was a clear crisp morning here at the house, but when we got out into the country, a heavy fog set in. You could barely see the road. (video below)

So we stoped on a country road and I took a couple photos as the sun was peaking through the fog.

We decided to go to the lake, despite the fog. Thinking it might clear up as the sun started to rise. But it did not, we could not see the moon at all. But, husband decided to send the drone up anyway and take a look around.

This photo below was taken with the drone, after it flew up over the fog. So we did get to see the sun rise after all. There is moisture on the camera lens so it looks alittle fuzzy. It almost looks like when you fly in a plane, and you look out the window to see the clouds below.

And here is what it looks like in this video as the drone goes up through the heavy fog.

    1. Yes, we were not expecting to see anything this morning because of the fog. It was a fun experiment to see if the drone would see anything over the fog. πŸ™‚ Thank you Emilie.

  1. That was so amazing Sandra, both the still shots with the colors and the drone video. How smart of you two putting the drone above the fog … we know what it is like to have a bird’s eye view. Here you were thinking it’d be a lost cause and look what you came home with!

    1. Yes, we were about to pack it up and leave, but we thought maybe the fog isn’t that high. Lets take a look. πŸ™‚ It wasn’t the best picture because of the moisture on the camera. But it was fun to see.

    1. Thank you for saying that Mark, I really do appreciate it. I love sharing the photos with any one who might come by to visit. Your words make we feel very good and to keep doing what I love to do. Thank you Mark, have a wonderful day.

  2. Sandra, these photos are so very beautiful.
Adding your video is such a nice touch and I always enjoy it!

    1. Thank you very much Margie, I appreciate your comments and hearing from you. Have a good day today Margie.

  3. photos and video are really exceptional Sandra but what I really appreciate is how you and your husband do this together – the new dynamic duo ! – David

    1. Thank you very much David, we do enjoy it so much. And we have a lot of fun. The drone is like the big boys toy for him. He was nervous with it at first, but he is getting really good at it now. He does the drone and I do the photos, it is a great team. Have a wonderful evening David. πŸ™‚

  4. I loved the sun rise above the fog. I would be afraid to fly a drone up there and get lost. As for the super moon, I got an amateurish picture last month. We had thunderstorms and heavy cloud cover predicted. I was going to bed early, looked out, in front of the house, and it was just coming up through the bare limbs of the neighbor’s trees. Within an hour of the photo, a circular glob with tree limbs slicing through it, it was overcast and raining. We are again in cloud cover this month.

    1. That must have been a site to see, I thought for sure I was going to see it that day. It was clear in town, but the minute I drove out of town, the fog hit. There is sappose to be another one on the 18th of this month I think. He was a little nervous that morning, but he had down it a few times from that same spot. The part where the drone is coming back down, you can see the powerlines to the right. He has fun with it though. Thank you Mark.

      1. They were talking about the super moon as being at its peak Thursday, but I thought that was tomorrow.

        1. I am not sure Mark, I will have to look it up. I see it on news feeds now and then, this next one they call it the Flower Moon, If it is tomorrow, we will have clouds here to. I will have to investigate. I love watching the stars and moon at night. When I can stay awake. πŸ™‚

          1. Just checked, peak is 6:45am Eastern Thursday morning, so before dawn tomorrow. It is already daylight here by then. What I heard was Thursday night might still be okay, but not the largest.

            1. Nice, I just checked the weather, clear here in the AM, until about 8 am. So I might get to see it. Thanks again Mark. Hope you get to see it also.

        2. I just looked it up Mark, thank you for telling me. I had the wrong date written down. And the weather says it will be clear. So I will head out early in the morning, maybe I will actually get to see this one. Thank you so much for telling me. πŸ™‚

            1. Yes, I remember. It was on the 5th, I put it in my post that day. πŸ™‚ I wrote it down. I enjoy talking to you everyday and your comments mean a lot to me. Plus I love your blog. I will remember next year also if we are both still blogging. πŸ™‚

      1. The picture feels nostalgic to me because such scene is regular in the mountains. It feels like you can jump and land on an infinite cushion πŸ˜€

        1. It does look like you are on top of a mountain looking down at the clouds. I have done that once in my life. πŸ™‚ Thank you Morishige.

  5. This is pure awesomeness. Thanks for the treat! Watching the drone cut through the fog both ways was amazing.
    Have a super day!
    Love, light, and glitter

    1. Thank you so much Eliza, it was sure fun to do and see it my self. πŸ™‚ I am very glad you liked it. Have a great day.

  6. What an extraordinary post, Sandra! The video of what the drone saw was just so cool. Your pictures stirred my soul …. your compositions with the grass stunning!! Thank you!

    1. Thank you very much Amy, it sure was a unique morning with the heavey fog, the sun light seemed to just lay across the fields like a blanket. Have a wonderful day Amy. πŸ™‚

  7. So cool! Loved the video. Do tell that to your husband, please. I’m surprised he wasn’t afraid he’d lose control over the drone.

    1. I just told him Jo, he was a little nervous because there were power lines right there. He knew they were there, but it was hard to see this particular morning. He said thank you for the compliment. πŸ™‚

  8. As always, your photographs are astounding, Sandra J! They are great i.e. composition, color, framing etc. Here, without the title, I will be fooled that it is sunset.

    1. Thank you so much Kent, I do appreciate you kind words. Yes, with the fog all around the ground, the light was more like a sunset then a sunrise. πŸ™‚

      1. To add, the photos are also dramatic, Sandra! The herb/grass/reed gives an interesting light to the overall story of the picture. πŸ™‚πŸ‘

        1. Thank you, it does indeed. I love when there is dew on the grass and the sun light causes it to look like sparkles. Sparkles grab my attention every time. πŸ™‚

  9. Absolutely fabulous and enchanting photos,I love the sunrise!!! Your photos are very magnificent!!! 😍😍😍
