Starting New Collection
Starting New Collection – Light Houses from across the country. So far I only have two and they are at complete opposite ends of the country.
This first one is on lake Superior. There are 78 light houses on lake superior so I have my work cut out for me to photograph them all.
There are 779 standing light houses around the United States.
And this one below I took in Savannah Georgia at Tybee Island.
Have a great weekend.

I love lighthouses and always photograph them when I find them. Not too many in the desert where I live β¦
I bet jot to many there Emily. Yes I have to travel a bit to find them also.
You would enjoy taking pictures of the caves on the outermost apostle islands in Lake Superior. Devils Island I believe where the lighthouse sits.
Yes, I have to get back there Gary. It was years ago we camped there before I was taking photos.
Lovely! You do such beautiful work.
Split Rock lighthouse on Superior is one of my favorites, if you make it over there. π
Thank you very much Anne, I will add that to my list. π
You have a start! Looking forward to your Lighthouse journey with photos.
Thank you Marland, it will be fun to look for them.
You’re welcome! Wishing you a great week ahead of you.
I set out to see 300 waterfalls in Michigan’s U.P., but only got to 48 of them so far. (I started several years ago). It’s so enjoyable seeing God’s creations, whether they’re waterfalls or the scenery around the lighthouses or something else. You have an eye for capturing the beauty in nature and man’s creations too!
Thank you Mary, 48 is really good. I want to do the waterfalls as well. I have 5 right now. π
Wow – I didn’t know Lake Superior had so many lighthouses. When I went to the old lighthouse on Grosse Ile a few years ago, I wrote a post about that lighthouse and the people I met from a tour group that travel the world to tour lighthouses … the lighthouse is only open one day a year and is on private property. So the members of the group get a type of passport and each lighthouse has a password stamp for their book. These are beautiful shots Sandra.
Thank you Linda, yes I found two that were on private property as well. π
These are beautiful, Sandra! Perfect for collecting.
Thank you Kellye, they are sure fun to find.
These light houses are wonderful!
Thank you very much, it will be fun to find more of them.
Lovely xx
Thank you very much Sue π
Do you think you can get them all?π€£ππ
No, I will be luck to get 6 or 8 of them. I did get 3 more, so a total of 5 now. ππ
There’s one in the Nebraska Panhandle that you likely would miss. It’s on Lake Minatare. https://outdoornebraska.gov/location/lake-minatare/
Thank you Doug, I never thought to look inland. I will add that to my list. π
Beautiful ! π
Thank you, Sandra. Have a great weekend.
You also Francine, π thank you
Very nice. Two good ones for future collecting would be the one at Acadia, or the islands just off it’s shores, and the one on Kauai on the north shore (it’s a double lens light).
Thank you, I marked them on my map π
