Shooting Stars Milky Way
Shooting Stars Milky Way – August has been a good month for getting outside in the middle of the night. They say the northern lights are making a show in the north but they could be seen down as far as Iowa this week.
So I have been going outside every night, when ever I wake up and taking a few photos if the clouds are not to thick. I have not seen the northern lights yet, but there are a lot of shooting stars.
My camera settings for photographing the Milky Way are; 17mm lens, 6400 ISO, f 2.8 and shutter speed any where from 10 to 30 sec.
It is so fun to look at your photos later, because I don’t see any of these shooting stars with my eyes. Only the camera picks them up.
This photo below is a shooting star and I believe the star link satellites. Star link used to have 20 some satellites but every photo just about picks up only 6 in a row now.

You have captured a shooting star, something I have never seen Sandra.
It is fun taking photos at night and there has been a lot of shooting stars this week that only the camera picks up for us to see.

Thank you Krista. π
I caught a couple of the Perseids meteors in my area earlier in the month. I don’t have the equipment to capture one but, it was exciting to watch.
It has been so nice and warm to go out at night to photograph the sky this month. Lots of shooting stars.
beautiful!
Thank you very much π
Superb photography.ππ
Thank you very much π
Pleasure. π
Absolutely beautiful. Seeing the northern lights is my number one bucket list item. If I hear about them being seen farther south, I go looking for them but never find them. Frankly, I love watching anything in the sky, especially meteor showers. Before Starlink had to put shields on their satellites, we would track them every night and even posted the tracking website on our blog. Unfortunately, they are hard to see now – unless you capture them on your camera π I LOVED this post, Sandra. Your photos keep amazing me!
Thank you very much Kellye. I love taking photos at night. We are fortunate to live in a dark sky area and can see the milky way with out a camera as well. I did not see the northern lights this time. Hopefully again someday. π

Excellent. Lot of cool stuff up there. Thanks for going out and looking up, Sandra, and giving us these shots.
You are so welcome RJ, it is quite something to stand outside in the darkest part of the night and just look up at all the stars. It is a beautiful time to spend with Him. π
Wow! Stunning!
Thank you very much π
