Rail Towns

Rail Towns – Elyโ€™s importance as a rail town during the 1900s is showcased on the Nevada Northern Railway, which offers a twisty ride in an open-air car through the mountains of the Egan Range. Originally built to transport copper from nearby mines, today this National Historic Landmark is one of the last operating steam locomotives of its kind.

We were here back in May of this year and it did snow a few days which made the mountains in the background look so nice behind this locomotive.

  1. Very interesting Sandra. A fellow blogger’s husband would have enjoyed these photos – he loved trains and was in a train club where he traveled from North Carolina to Tennessee a few times a month where they set up train tracks with trains big enough they could ride through the woodsy area. Unfortunately he passed away in June returning from one of his train group get-togethers.
