Portrait of the Snowy Egret

Portrait of the Snowy Egret

Portrait of the Snowy Egret, we went out for a bike ride on this particular morning. The sun was still low in the sky and as we crossed a small bridge we came to a sudden stop. As we noticed this beautiful Egret perched on a branch just above the creek.

I slowly got my camera out, the sun was behind us creating a beautiful spot light, it turned to look towards me and I took the photo as you see. Sometimes when I am least expecting it, an average morning bike ride turns into a site that can take my breathaway.

Have a Wonderful Weekend.

  1. Perfect light on such a white bird – with the darker background, has my favorite professional photographer Joel Sartore Photo Ark feel to it.

    1. Thank you very much, I appreciate that. It was a surprise to find them in that spot. We were not looking for them but the light caught my eye and we stopped.

    2. I just looked him up. I like his work. I like that darker look also. I tend to lean that way with photos when I can. I like it when I can do it with the camera, with a faster shutter speed, easier then trying to do it in photoshop.

  2. My walks are often interrupted when I am tempted by the views. I limit myself to two quick photos and then get back to the walk and time together. I would love to have been riding my bike today but with the recent snowfall and minus 9 weather, I want to avoid the extra wind chill. I do appreciate your blog so much, thank you for the work you do to make it so special. – David

    1. I appreciate that David, thank you. I know what you mean about walking and interruptions, I try to stay focused on the walk but I can never leave home without the camera. So it is just a given. There is always so much to see. Merry Christmas David 😊

    1. Yes, I like it when the sun is just right in the morning and I come across an area like this. Morning is the best time for photography. πŸ™‚
