Portrait of the Raven
Portrait of the Raven, I finally was able to get a photo of this beautiful Raven. I have two that hang around my place. But they are very smart birds and don’t like to sit still for photos. I just happen to take this one through a window.

I love these birds, we have a few visiting us…
They are so pretty. π
Love it
Thank you π
These are perfect portraits of your Raven Sandra – I especially like how you did the first image, with the oval shape set off with the snowy background – very nice.
Thank you Linda, I like how that one turned out.
It’s a female! Did you ask her for her name?
Hello Wayne, I was hoping you would see this. With her by herself, I wasn’t sure how to tell the female from the male.
a more slender head and the male always has longer chest feathers hanging.
I will look for that.
They sure keep an eye on me Wayne, I remember you said you gave yours a cracker now and then. Well, they were here one day, so I put some crackers way over by the woods. I went back to my porch, and had my camera set up in the shadow of the porch and waited. There were 3 of them, perched in the trees not far from the crackers. They appeared to be talking to each other, jumping around from tree to tree. Meanwhile a squirrel kept coming over snagging the crackers. Finally I gave up and went back inside, and within minutes all 3 landed on the ground looking for the left overs. They knew I was sitting over there. π
they watch you, once you get to know them they allow you to get closer. I can get about 20 feet away from Robbie. Rita came over and was talking gently to him!
I was surprised to see this one in my photo right outside my window. That is the closest one has been. She was picking at the bird seed on the ground.
Having taught the Edgar Allan Poe poem, by the same name, many times, I am partial to these birds. Your photos are awesome!
Thank you very much Michele.
Wowπ
Thank you Seraja, π
My pleasure ππ
The light glistening off the Raven’s feathers makes him look so regal against the backdrop of snow. In the world of Beatrix Potter, I imagine he would wear a top hat and bow tie and rap on your window at tea time so you could share some crumpets with jam.
I can just picture that Beth, they are amazing birds.π
Simply beautiful, Sanda!! Great job!
Thank you very much. π
He is quite stately.. great shot..
Thank you Lisa, they are such a cool bird.

Thank you. π

Beautiful captures, Sandra! I love the closeups, extra nice with the bit of snow on his beak. You got great details on a hard to photograph bird. They are fascinating to watch, interacting with each other and the world around them.
They are such a cool bird, and I took this photo through a window. The only way to get this close.
Your windows are way cleaner than mine, nice! π
Lol, just that one. π

They are such cool looking birds, and so shinny when the sun is out.
