Picturesque Water Falls

Picturesque Water Falls

Picturesque Water Falls, I have been visiting this waterfall for years now. And the pure beauty of the area never disappoints for me. This is a popular waterfall in Michigan that is usually very busy with tourist.

Picturesque Water Falls

This waterfall has a 50 foot drop from the top to here, where I am standing to take this photo. With a wonderful trail system all around the falls and through the forest.

I am trying my hand at long exposure photography with these photos. This means putting a dark filter on the camera lens so you can slow the shutter speed down and it will give the appearance of soft flowing water over the rocks.

But on this day, it was pretty hot and humid. When I got to the bottom here, my camera lens kept fogging up from the steam coming off the water. So the trees look a bit blurry. I only took a couple of photos and had to put the camera away. This camera is not water resistant. 🙂

  1. I have never seen this waterfall Sandra – it is beautiful and very picturesque. I like the way the water seems to be tumbling down at different angles. (I am getting a message that says I could not retrieve comments for this post; not sure what that means and I hope this message goes through since I am five days late in reading posts in Reader.) I came right to your site to try and post again.

      1. I think you are okay at your end Sandra. I have tried to catch up here tonight … about every 3rd or 4th post in Reader, I get the same message. I finally had to go to blogger’s sites to comment. That is why I commented on all yours at one time while I was there. I’m not sure what the problem is.

    1. Yes it is Mary, you have probably been here a few times also? I love this place, I go there a lot for sunrise photos. Always beautiful.

    1. Thank you Phil, this is the first time I tried the long exposure on some of the photos. It is fun to do, yours waterfalls are always amazing shots. I had to try the nd filter finally. 🙂

      1. Cool, looks great Sandra! I really enjoy shooting waterfalls, both for the beauty as well as the hiking experience. Where I live, I need to arrive early – many of the spots are popular and do get crowded 🙂

  2. ♡ Get a Water Proof Camera; 😂🤣😅😆😁😄😃😀🙂

    1. Yes there are some large falls in Michigan, I have found some pretty ones in Iowa and Illinois. They are fun to find for sure.

        1. I do enjoy sea level also when I can. I have not been around to many mountains, just passing by them usually. One day I will. I love both of your photos. It is nice that you both can go out on adventures together to take pictures. My husband and I do that also. He was a portrait photographer for many years, landscape and wild life is a little different for him. He likes to use the drone and go pro more and I combine them all in videos. Fun hobby, 🙂
