My What Big Beautiful Eyes

My What Big Beautiful Eyes

My What Big Beautiful Eyes, she has. So very pretty up close. And when they look right at you, I mean I think she made eye contact with me. I put corn out on the feeder for her, she has a beautiful sparkle in her eyes of gratitude. (video below)

Whaaa, yep, she did it again. Don’t let those big beautiful doe eyes fool you. 🙂 And she can snort with the best of them when danger is close. I have heard her. I snort also, but that is when I am laughing really hard. Can’t help it.

Technically, she is just eating corn. I just happen to hit the shutter button just right and catch her with her tongue out.

She can look pretty regal at times. She spotted something off in the distance. With those big ears, she may have heard something first.

And then she trotted off, back into the forest.

  1. Since I was a kid, I’ve always been fascinated by the color of the fur. The brown is so elegant. In my eyes, as a kid, I thought of their fur as some kind of a uniform. 😀

  2. Those big eyes and ears – very expressive! I liked seeing her eating corn, lapping it up. Such a beautiful and regal animal and you showed her off nicely Sandra.

    1. She comes here pretty regular in the evening, sometimes there is one or two more. I was out doing some stuff this morning and she came out of the woods. She just watched me as I moved around and then went and ate some corn and left.

      1. It had been years since I saw deer up close until last year when I saw the fawns near a swampy and wooded area at Lake Erie Metropark. I was ecstatic to see them, as I would if I saw this lovely lady with her pretty eyes and wiggly ears.

          1. They are beautiful – once late October arrives, there are less trips to Lake Erie Metropark for me as the deer/vehicle crashes begin. That would be just my luck to have that happen. My boss has a friend who was coming back from his cabin up north last year and a buck jumped right in front of the SUV – antlers went through the windshield and caused so much damage the vehicle was totaled. Neither his friend, nor his wife, were seriously injured. That is scary. I would love to see some deer, or fawn. Won’t make it back this weekend due to the car – it will be hot Saturday and too long a trip with no air. But I’ll go the next week (weather permitting).

            1. Even the big, study SUVs can be damaged. I was amazed my boss’ friend was not killed or injured since it plowed through the windshield and into the front seat.

    1. How cute, I usually have 5 of them that come around in the evenings. They help them selves to the cracked corn I leave out for them.

  3. I never tire of seeing deer. A couple of weeks ago, a doe and two little spotted fawns crossed the road in front of me. Tried to get a picture with my phone but was just too slow.

    1. I have been seeing a lot of photos of fawns right now. I have not seen them. I have seen younger deer. So they must have given birth a little earlier in the year up here.

    1. Thank you Eliza, yes, mostly the front yard and lots of wildflowers. The deer come through here in the evenings mostly. Usually there are 5 of them.

  4. Like in Little Red Riding Hood: what big eyes you have, and what a big tongue. 🙂 But surely there’s no big, bad wolf inside. I found very interesting the fifth picture, the one in which Bambi appears to scratch his ears. Very much like a dog.

    1. Yes, their eyes and ears are so big. But that helps them to beware of danger early. And they can jump so high.
