Mom Bear

Mom Bear

Mom Bear – now this is a good size bear. These two visited our place two years ago. I saw the little bear first and again stood outside my back door with a 600mm lens and was photographing away when all of a sudden, mom came out of the woods.

I have to admit, my heart rate went up a bit when I saw her. She was so big and quite beautiful. These two trashed the feeder and again I had already put everything away when I first figured out they were here.

I don’t want them staying around, one has to respect these giant animals and give them space. They stuck around for about 4 days and then were gone. Bears are always on the search for food, if there isn’t any available they will move on as these two did.

    1. I like how they look right at me, I am not sure they saw me, but they could hear the shutter go on the camera and would look then.

  1. I can certainly see why anyone would NOT want to mess with a cub when momma bear is nearby.

    1. I am not sure. It definitely could be, it says they tend to take the same route on their journeys to find food.

    1. Thank you Eddie. I was standing right next to the back door of our cabin and not moving a muscle. I don’t think they see that well, they rely on their great sense of smell. He could here my shutter button on the camera and would turn to look in my direction, but he never really saw me I don’t think.

  2. It’s getting harder and harder for bears to simply exist without coming into contact with humans or our buildings. Harder for them to find food too, so many have found foraging in or near houses for human food to have a big payoff! Glad these 2 weren’t aggressive!

    1. Yes, they are running out of habitat in many areas. These that come by here look healthy, which I like to see.
