Mississippi Aquarium
Mississippi Aquarium – Last week I ended with a post telling you about some very colorful birds coming up next. First I must show you where I saw these birds, because most of them are from other country’s.
I am talking about a fairly new Aquarium in Gulfport Mississippi, right next to the coast. A fellow camper told us about this place so we headed on over. It is a wonderful drive along the coast line to get to this aquarium.
Mississippi Aquarium is a nonprofit public aquarium located in Gulfport, Mississippi; it opened August 29, 2020. The 5.8-acre, complex incorporates both indoor and outdoor habitats with more than 200 species of animals and 50 species of native plants.
First the star of the aquarium is the dolphins for sure. They have lots of fish inside and these two beautiful guys outside.
I will get to the birds in a couple more days.

Still, despite the smiles, I can’t help feeling sad for those dolphins though. Thanks for posting.
I know what you mean. I would rather see them free in the oceans as well. But they do keep them safe and cared for.
Cute, we’ll have to add this place for the next time we are in the area.
It is a nice aquarium and some cool birds from other country’s, They have an aviary so the birds do get to fly around.
I like the dolphins – you got them smiling up close. They remind me of Flipper. 🙂
Yes, they are amazing to watch 🙂
I loved the pictures of the dolphins. I arranged a meeting with dolphins for my mother as a present for her 75th birthday. It was something she dreamed about for years. We had to go to a dophinarium in the Netherlands as there was no possibility in Belgium. Now she’s will be 90 in a few months and she still talks about it. 🙂
Wow, what a wonderful gift for her and that she is 90 now. Dolphins just have something special about them.
I grew up in Mississippi, the far end of the state, but I have been to Gulfport many times, but not since Hurricane Katrina relief. You have given me a reason to return. Thanks.
It was such a beautiful drive down the coast. The beaches were amazing and the water was so calm.
Yes, unless there is a hurricane, the Atlantic beaches are totally different than the gulf beaches, and even from Florida to Texas, the Gulf Beaches are vastly different in the color of sand, color of the water, and how much sand is kicked up by the waves (how far out the shallow water goes). In Mississippi, you don’t get the wave action as much due to the off shore islands.
I had noticed that. The water is so pretty all along the coast. We stay at Daupin Island for a couple months in the winter. Alabama, the water is not that clear there.
Look at those beauties. I once swam with dolphins. It’s a great memory.
A few people have mentioned that they have done that. It must be such a wonderful experience to be in the water with them.
I love the bird pictures, because they are free.
Yes, ☺️
Ahh, close to my birth place; Biloxi! Love the shot along the coastline. I’d love to go visit that museum! I got to swim with the dolphins 🐬 in Cozumel. I never realized until I did it, that you do it belly to belly…not on their backs like in the movies. What a rush that was!
I bet that was awesome, swimming with them. Someday I would like to see whales out in the ocean waters.
Me too! Is there warm water whale spotting? Lol. I don’t want to travel to Alaska.
I know, me either. 😀

Thank you very much Francine ☺️
Loce how they “smile,” and how magically you capture them and their grins. 🙂
Yes, they always look like they are smiling. 😊
