Love Live Oak Trees
Love Live Oak Trees – every year I take new photos of these beautiful trees. Amazing how the branches grow horizontal to the ground. Some branches touch the ground and keep growing, these trees you will mostly find in the warmer climate areas.
The moss is like tinsel hangin on a Christmas tree. I don’t know if they make tinsel anymore, but my grandfather loved covering our Christmas tree with lots of tinsel after the other decorations were put on.
Our trees back in the day looked just like this.

I stood in awe of many a live oak while I roamed the South.
As do I Emilie. They are amazing trees.
Live Oaks are definitely my favorite tree – so much character. Don’t touch that Spanish Moss though – nasty stuff.
I know, mine as well. So unique from what is in my neck of the woods.
My Mom loved tinsel too. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Mary. βΊοΈ
Wow, I see the similarities between your Christmas tree years ago and these Oak trees dripping with Spanish moss. That is a very large Christmas tree!
My grandfather loved the tinsel, I saved the old tinsel for years and then finally misplaced it in all my moving around.
I have some gold-colored tinsel used on our small tabletop tree and saved it every year – I don’t know if you can still buy tinsel. It made the tree – next year I’m going to put up a tree.
very nice π€£ππ
π thank you Mr Ohh and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Merry Christmas to you and yours as well π€£ππ
The ‘tinsal’ or spanish moss is very decorative year round
on these charming Oak Trees. We have several of them here
surrounding us and love them. They are a typical thing to
see in our neighborhood.
How wonderful you get to have them in your yard. I am just mesmerized by them overtime we come south. The ones where the branches grow down to the ground and just keep going is just gorgeous. Where we live everything grows straight up and as tall as they can go.
It’s the mood they set that make them a very curious tree. Your photos are totally fascinating
I’ve heard that fewer oak trees are being planted because of how long it takes them to grow. They are gorgeous, hardy trees. Beautiful post, Sandra.
Thank you very much Mary. Yes, if I was younger I would plant them. But for that reason, I would never see them grow either, so I will enjoy the ones in the south.
So beautiful…
Thank you Sandra. Have a wonderful day π³π³πππ³π³π
You also Francine, thank you π
There are severe fines for cutting down, or simply over-trimming, oak trees in the city of Thousand Oaks.
That is good, these trees are so unique and I would guess take a long time to grow. It is just amazing how they look, nothing like them up north.
