Light Dancing in the Forest

Light Dancing in the Forest

Light Dancing in the Forest, does anyone remember the Disco Balls, they were called that in the 70’s, yes when I actually when to a couple disco clubs with my college friends. That is what this photo reminds me of, the sunlight is dancing across the rocks and the trees, like the lights on a dance floor.

But I am a horrible dancer, not one once of rhythm in me. πŸ™‚ I will just watch nature dance in front of me instead.

Light Dancing in the Forest

Even though there are some leaves turning color high up on the trees, the forest floor is still holding onto its lush green fern plants and moss growing everywhere.

I love the color green, as the sun lights it up from above. As if a spotlight is highlighting all the beauty down here where darkness usually fills the inside of the forest. On certain sunny days, if you go into the forest, you might just see one of the greatest shows on earth.

Creation in all its glory, to me.

  1. Yes – very beautiful and the light wiggling around as it lands on the leaves does give that effect! That dappled effect you captured on the green in the forest is beautiful. You explained it persfectly as to the disco ball and … you also gave away your age. No worries, I was from that disco era too. πŸ™‚ Just kidding.

    1. We are pretty close to the same era, πŸ™‚ the 70’s were quite the year with bell bottom pants and perm’s in our hair. I did that also, that stuff smelled so bad, what an invention that was. πŸ™‚

      1. I know – close enough! I had the bell bottoms (even the “elephant bells”) and the perms as well. A friend of the family was a hair stylist and gave me a perm and one side didn’t “take” – my senior year of high school, one side was really curly, the other side really straight so I slept in two kinds of curlers to even it out. I’ve not had a perm in many years now.

  2. Love the pictures. Can’t you just hear the frogs chirping, and maybe even see a lone deer stalking somewhere in the background. So sorry but I have nothing funny to say about this post It’s lovely

    Remember to laugh

  3. I just discovered your blog today and I can’t stop myself from clicking on more of your posts. Such wonderful photos and lovely words in one blog post. I enjoy them immensely ❀️☺️✨✨

    1. Thank you so much Vanely, I am glad to hear that and it is very nice to meet you today. I appreciate your kind words. πŸ™‚

  4. I not only remember the objects, I remember the song “Disco Balls”, which was prob circa 1990s.

Lovely pictures! I haven’t been in a forest in… gah… 30+ years?? Expected to visit a rainforest in Costa Rica 3.5 yrs ago but they were in an extended drought. There were trees but no ferns nor lush groundcover.

    1. πŸ™‚ I am not sure of the song, I will have to look that one up. My girlfriends and I always went to the disco dance place on Friday nights, so much fun. There were a lot of good dancers back then.
I love the forest, I live close to one and when we camp we tend to be near some if possible. πŸ™‚

      1. This one says the song was developed for White Party Palm Springs 2005. I don’t know if I was at that one but they were (are?) MASSIVE gay parties that take place over Easter weekend. The first one I went to had about 3,000 people… 10 of which were women (I have a series of photos that make a 360 around the pool and there’s only 1 woman visible). The last time I went, it took over the city… probably 100,000+ gay men from all over the world. One of the parties I attended was so crowded and hot (it’s PS after all) that I hot heat stroke just before 2am. I desperately needed water but the bars had just closed and no water was provided even though the party was going till 4am. I recall that I almost drank pool water. I wouldn’t sit down because I knew I’d pass out and I didn’t want to leave in an ambulance. Ahhh, youth!!!

        1. Yes, the things we did and the stories we have. I see why my parents didn’t get me, I don’t get the younger generation now either. πŸ™‚

          1. My neighborkids father was popping off about the younger generation’s fluid self-identites. He called BS (“Identity has to stand for something! It can’t change day by day!”). I called him out if touch, an old man, and waaay too concerned with how others choose to define – or not define – themselves!!

            1. There will always be a generational gap where we don’t understand one to the other because we all go through such different times in our lives. This is the age of technology and it will become even more advanced for the younger people. I am finally at the age when I tell my nieces about what life was like for me as a young person, they just laugh and can’t believe we did things like that. πŸ™‚

            2. I was happy that neighborkid, 10, was horrified to learn people used to be thrown in jail just for being gay.

Wed night we talked about everything from a song my grandma taught me to the Stonewall Riots. She tries to teach me Tiktoc dances but they all look like spasm attacks to me!

  5. It’s of great benefit to all of us that you decided to focus on photography rather than dancing. I think even John Travolta would agree!. Great post.

  6. Nature’s dance is truly the best. The ferns you captured are still so lush and stately. Last summer we had the opportunity to hike at a state forest laden with ferns. The trail literally had us wading through a sea of them. All we could see of our Labs who were forging ahead of us were their black tails. It was absolutely beautiful.

  7. Awesome photos Sandra. The Light from above finding us down here. I’m sure our Creator loves your love of His pure creation. Thank you for taking us everywhere you go out there and giving us a positive perspective. Have a great day.

    1. You are so welcome RJ, and thank you. It is amazing when we are walking about how He can grab our attention to notice the smallest of details surrounding us. Even the sunlight can put on a show for us. πŸ™‚

  8. Another thing we have in common: I’m not a great dancer either. πŸ™‚ And I love nature, the wonderful green in your pictures.
