Kootenai Falls Swinging Bridge
Kootenai Falls Swinging Bridge, now this is the one place I took a few photos as we visited this beautiful river. I have walked across a few swinging bridges, but nothing like this one.
I have to admit , I could not do it. I could not walk across this one. With the rushing water below and the movement of the bridge under my feet. My heart started racing right away. My head was spinning.
I have had vertigo in the past and I had a tumor taken out of my head that was pressing on the nerves that control ones balance. So nope, I could not walk more than a couple of feet and I went back.
It is quite the bridge, but I will have to stay on this side of the river on this one.
The bridge was originally created to help the forest service get across to fight fires. But now it is a tourist attraction and a good challenge for anyone like my self.
Well, this is all from our trip out west. When we left here we pretty much traveled straight home without a lot of sight seeing. It did take us 5 days to get home, but it sure was a trip to remember.
We drove over 8000 miles in 8 months, give or take. We were home for 4 months and are now on the road again. I just don’t want to shovel snow again. π

I am with you Sandra – I could not cross that swinging bridge either and I’ve not had issues with vertigo. I wouldn’t feel safe, especially above a raging River below. There is the bridge in Michigan now, but I would like to see it sometime, but I think I would have the same mindset there.
Yes, that water rushing below did not help.
That would make me nervous.
Nope, no way would I be able to make that traversal either. There would be slight chance if I was alone, if Linda was there I would never attempt it per previous experiences – she enjoys rocking the suspension bridge when I am halfway across to scare the crap out of me – good thing for her I stick by my vows ha.
Lol, that would be horrible on that bridge if someone jumped around. There a swinging bridge similar buy actually shorter up home. It has a sign that states only 2 people at a time and a weight limit. π
No way I’m going anywhere near that thing. π€£ππ
Yep, I could not do it. I am glad I am not the only one.π΅βπ«π

That is gorgeous. We have a hanging bridge in our area, that goes over the Eno River. I can walk it but, when many people are on it, it moves too weird for me. I have to move really slow and hang onto the side ropes. We also have a mile high swinging bridge up in the mountains. I’ve never been on that.
I don’t mind the smaller ones, but this one going over fast moving water was to much. π
I hear ya’!
Gorgeous!
Thank you very much Mary
it is a very spectacular bridge but for those suffering from vertigo and/or a sense of balance it constitutes a considerable psychological obstacle. The photographs are very suggestive.
Yes, I could not do it, I made it about 10 or 20 feet and turned around.
I have to say that the bridge looks a bit intimidating. I love seeing the river – great shots, Sandra.
It was very intimidating for me. But the view on that side of the river was just fine. π
Like you, I think the view is just as beautiful from the bank…without having to go out on that bridge.
Yes, π
Wow! I don’t blame you for not crossing. The scenery is powerful with all that moving water. Great captures of a great place.
It is an amazing place, yes the views are spectacular. π
Lovely photos and it looks amazing there. But there is no way I would be brave enough crossing that bridge. π
Same here Liz. I could see the other side just fine from this side of the bridge. π
Yes. Going by those photos, the view was fine without being on the bridge. π
I’m not showing my wife this picture of that bridge. She will want to try it and get half way across while I take pictures from terra firma.
π, I wanted to cross. I walked up there like no problem and made it about 10 feet. The bridge was moving every witch way and my brain said nope. π
