Horses on the Farm

Horses on the Farm

Horses on the Farm, I grew up with horses so I have a special place in my heart for these beautiful animals. It has been years since I have had horses, but I do get to enjoy them at my nieces farm now as she has 4 of them.

This first photo is her horse and she has some smaller ponies for her daughters to work with, that allows them to learn the responsibilities of caring for animals. Horses are a lot of work, but very rewarding I think to be able to take care of them and see how such a large beautiful animal can be so calming to ones spirit.

This one is her newest yearling filly. I just love her one blue eye.

The youngest child is already taking riding lessons and learning how to be safe around horses and have fun going out on rides. She has a trainer that works with her, which is a great idea f

  1. These are great photos of the horses Sandra. I didn’t know that horses could have blue eyes – I figured they would always have dark eyes, so I learned something here. That’s a beautiful photo of the child, (I guess your grand-niece), on her pony.

      1. I never knew that. I often see husky dogs who run away and people in our City’s Facebook Forum will say “one brown eye, one blue eye” and I thought that was unusual. That is a beautiful portrait photo you took of her.

    1. They are something to have wasn’t it. I so enjoyed taking care of them for many years. I don’t miss the chores so much, but now I can just enjoy them at my nieces farm and she gets to do the chores.

  2. My bff from high school is a horsewoman. Because of her, I learned to work the stables and even took a few equestrian lessons. I learned to love the giants. They are so very good for the spirit, even the mean ones! Have you ever been run away with by a Tennessee Walker? There’s fun!

    1. How wonderful that you got to experience this thing as well, being close to horses is a true gift, yes even the mean ones, they still can be calmed with the right touch. I have never seen a Tennessee walker except on television. That is quite the horse as well.

      1. They really are quite something when they step. Such a large horse to be so speedy. You’re right about the gift of horsiness. I was hooked when told to blow gently into their nostrils and they never forget you. You heard that?

  3. That photo of the child on the horse is so precious! My hubby and I binged on the “Heartland” series on Netflix. Fell in love with horses and their personalities via that series. We are looking forward to the next episodes. Your horse photos brought us there. Thanks for sharing!
