We saw herons nesting high up in tree a few years ago. It was a complete surprise to see those long legged birds perched on limbs. My ignorant guess would have been that they nested in the reeds like the geese do.

Yes, the branches look so flimsy for all their weight.
Nest building always amazes me how they fit it all together.. and it stays…. I doubt we could achieve such a task 🙂
