Gulls in Flight
Gulls in Flight – Gulls are a very unique bird, some may say they are pest and some may say they are extremely smart.
They are definitely good at finding food or stealing food. But, if you are new at photography and want to learn how to photography birds in flight. Gulls are the perfect subject.
I learned so many better techniques by photographing gulls, because they glide and hover which makes it easier to track them with your camera.
It is fun to get a photo with their maximum wingspan and tail feathers spread out.
Plus they sit still for long periods of time so you can practice your still shots as well.
You may not know this, but they do dive head first into the water to catch a fish now and then.

Beautiful pictures! 🤩 Especially those of the gulls diving head first- the whole series is beautiful 🤩
Thank you very much 🙂
What a magnificent bird! As an avid birdwatcher, I’ve never had the pleasure of observing a gull, as they are not native to our continent. The way you’ve captured it is truly delightful!
Thank you very much, yes we have lots of them here. All different shades of gray, brown and white.
Nice post ✍️
Thank you very much 😊
Great and lovely shots, Sandra! They remind me of that old little book we read in high school, Jonatahan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach. Nice story and nice shots too, in black and white.
Thank you very much, I had never read that book and another comment mentioned it the other day. So I looked it up and read the first couple of pages. What a fun narrative written from the eyes of the bird. I like that.
I have always found seagulls to be beautiful in flight. It is surprising how big their wing span is – you’d never know it from seeing them perch. Now when they open their mouth and screech, it’s a whole nother story.
I know you like them as well. They are such pretty birds I think. Beautiful white and tan colors.
A lovely capture of the seagull. 😊
Thank you very much 😊
My pleasure. 😊
Beautiful.
Thank you 😊
You’re very welcome.
Great shots. They are cute birds but, I always remember “Finding Nemo.” “Mine, mine, mine…” LOL!
I love that part of the movie. And they really do sound like they are saying that. 😀

Happy new year Donna. 😊
These birds of the sky have pooped on my head several times over the years. LOL.
Oh no, I have never been pooped on by one yet. Knock on wood.
Awesome pictures of them!
Thank you very much 😊

You’re welcome.
Your blogpost reminds me of the book about Jonathan Seagull.
Kind regards
I have never read this. I looked it up and read the first couple of pages. What a very interesting narrative. Written from the birds perspective. As it mentioned how Jonathan could stall in flight.
Very informative post for bird’s photography
Thank you very much 😊

Thank you very much 😊
There are some gulls hanging out at the boat dock in Princeton. They seem to have no interest in flight.
Yes, some can just sit perched for long periods of time. Just waiting for something that looks like food going by I think.
Im looking throwing the set I photographed on Sunday. I think I caught one gull flying in from the middle of the lake with some kind of shell in the mouth.
Nice, they pick up some strange things.
Nice post
Thank you very much 😊
