Flower Art

Flower Art

Flower Art, the weather this past weekend was just perfect. Cool mornings, fire in the house stove in the mornings. I just love this time of year.

I was doing some flower arrangements as well. You may not know this, but I was actually a florist at one time, many years ago. I arranged these wildflowers with some of the sea shells and rocks I found during our trip. Plus some drift wood I had from Lake Superior as well.

I have done a few different jobs over the course of my life, from driving a Semi truck across country for a couple of years. Working in a flower shop and back then I made $100 dollars a week. After a couple of years my boss gave me a $50.00 a week raise. I felt as if I was rich at the time.

I have always lived a very simple life, I have never been much of a shopper or collecting things. Being out in nature was always more important and enjoyable for me. I would rather be outside then be anywhere in a building.

I accomplished everything on my bucket list from raising Draft Horses to riding a motorcycle, driving a Semi truck and climbing the highest mountain I dare climb this past year.

When the world seems so crazy around us, I just stop and remember that time is precious. What we do now, today is so important. I choose to enjoy each and every moment I have, not worrying about tomorrow. For we know not if it will even come.

There isn’t anything on this earth that we will take with us when our time here ends. Why try to build up so much more than what each individual needs. Why is it the rich seem to never have enough. Power and money changes people, they forget what is truly important in life.

I have had such a full life, yes I had many ups and downs. But through out it all, my constant has been, for me, my faith in our Father who will hold out His hand one day and say; ” child take my hand and come with me”. So that I may go home. For this place here is not home, I am just passing through.

Thank you to all that visit me here. I so appreciate the time that you take to look at my photos and to leave such wonderful comments. I am feeling grateful today and just wanted to say thank you. 🙂

  1. Hi! Just read this and I love this article. For sure I’m not the most adventurous person here, but I also believe in leading a simple life, as power, money (like, ultra rich. We need some money for survival) and fame screws you up.
Amazing article with beautiful pictures 😍

  2. Hi Sandra – I sent you an e-mail message re: good viewing of the Northern Lights tonight. I thought you might see this first … it is for three nights, but weather is often dicey. We are going to have a storm momentarily … first I heard about it five minutes ago.

  3. What beautiful flower arrangements Sandra! Your various jobs and adventures have left you with skills that keep on giving. Thank you for sharing those with us.

  4. A beautiful post. Sweet mingle of pictures of flowers and thought provoking talks. Loved it💛

  5. The photos of this flower and leaves and arrangements are beautiful Sandra. I like how you have captured the light just so. I did not know you were a florist in a prior life … prior life being before your current life as a carefree and curious about nature photographer. 🙂

    1. Thank you Linda, yes I went to school to learn how and worked in a flower shop for years. It was a very fun job.

  7. How interesting Sandra, sounds like you have had a happy fulfilling life to this point full of adventure and unique experiences. I will say, you should never reference your bucket list in past tense as I am sure you are/will continue to add to it. I call refer to my list as the “Life List” just to have a more positive spin on it. At the beginning of each year I figure out which items to target that year and then refresh it with new items to replace the ones I managed to cross off. We are so excited being retired now we can tackle more on the list that ever before. Especially like those last two shots!

    1. That is so true, the list never ends. I am always adding to it when I see something new I want to try. Kayaking is my next thing I added to the list this year.

  8. This is such a beautiful AND inspiring blog post 🙂 It sounds like you’ve had so many adventures throughout your time, with many more to come I’m sure 😉 And I love the idea of working inside a flower shop, even though I do get a bit of hay fever haha

    1. Thank you very much Shannon, yes Adventures are never over and I think we keep adding to our bucket list. 😊

        1. Well, I am interested in Kayaking. That is my next thing. I don’t have a kayak yet but am looking. I am not a swimmer and get nervous on water. I like being in a boat, but there are so many easy flowing rivers around here, so that is my next adventure. How about you, do you have a list?

          1. That does sound exciting! 🙂 I know someone who’s afraid of heights who went on one of those bridge tours where I’m from.. And no, I don’t have a bucket list of my own, but maybe I should think about it and what I would have on it? Have you ever wrote about your bucket list on your blog, other than this post?

            1. I think this is the first time I mentioned it. I don’t think to far ahead of what I want to accomplish, I think at my age now I just see something that looks interesting and if it is doable I might try it. I can’t do heights anymore either, but I don’t need to try anything in that department. 😊

  9. An artist you are Sandra. I could see people loving your flower arrangements. You accent the flower well with shells and wood. The viewfinder on the camera helps me corner and put my important thoughts in a box (or frame) to show others. A language all it’s own.

    1. Thank you Gary, yes it is a language all its own isn’t it. I love how photography allows us to see so much more and to look closer at what we are seeing. As I am always looking for those pieces of artwork created by the one true artist. 😊

  10. Beautiful sunnies. I really like the one in the pot with the sculptural wood. Excellent photo.
