Farming at Sunset – I had a couple more photos to post from the evening that we went out and watched the corn being harvested in Iowa. It is a busy time of year for the farmers as they finish up the field work.
I like the drone shots. As you expect things are quite busy out here in the country with everyone trying to get their fields in before the wet weather comes in. Don’t get to see that effort from that perspective.
Once we got rid of that three-week drought in June, we had a lot of rain and could have sent Iowa some. Hopefully the farmers got enough hay and oats so their animals are well fed this Winter.
Great photos of the autumn harvest from every perspective. I especially like the first two as they illustrate not only the end of the day’s work but also the end of a waning season and onset of quiet fields. Much appreciation to you and my sincerest thanks. I hope things are going well with y’all on your new adventures. Traveling mercies and blessings to you, Sandra.
Thank you very much RJ for your wonderful comment and blessings. We are doing well and getting to spend some quality time with our son. Have a wonderful afternoon. 😊
I’ve also witnessed those long summer evenings when there aren’t many days to bring in the harvest. In the morning, the dew has to evaporate before the harvest can resume, but there are so many other tasks.

Yes, years ago I watched dozens of combines in one field in northern MN, all in an angled row as they worked a field. That was quite the sight.
Interesting Sandra and I bet they wish they had a string of nice-weather days like we’ve had here lately in SE Michigan.
Yes, it was a dry year for them in Iowa this year, so that did help, but yields were down because of the dry.

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
You are very welcome, thank you
I love these… the 1st pic looks like a lifeguard tower on a windy day!
Thank you, yes I can see that now that you said it. 😊
Working a long day would be so much better with a sunset like that one! It’s stunning, Sandra.
Yes, I would have loved the tractor being my office back in the day.

Thank you very much Francine 🙂
Farmers often get up early and, as shown here, this can produce beautiful atmospheric images.
Yes, they sure put in long hours during harvest time. This gentlemen runs all night as well to get it all done before bad weather sets in.

Thank you very much 🙂

Yes, and farmers like this gentlemen, he uses some older equipment that tends to break down quite often. So they always have repairs to make as well.
