Desert Surprises
Desert Surprises, it has been very dry in the desert this past month, I was beginning to think we were to early to see any flowers on this trip. But, we walked down to the Rio Grande river one morning right at sunrise and this lone yellow flower was blooming right in the middle of rocks and dry dirt.
A lovely surprise for sure.
Along with this one growing at the base of more rocks.
Even the cactus has just a touch of color with their red pointy needles.
Now this plant below, I believe is in the Agave family, you definitely would not want to trip and fall on one of these. Those things do not bend at all. They are as hard as a rock.

What a treat to see that yellow flower as the sun rose – beware those sharp points and spines Sandra as my mom got a spine in her forearm after reaching over her cactus garden to water it. The spine got embedded in her arm and we tried to use a sterile needle to poke it out, but had to go to the doctor and on antibiotics, the whole nine yards for that cactus. I’ve had rose thorns embed in the pads of my fingers.
They are very dangerous and hurt those needles and they are everywhere. ๐
Be careful – even in your fingertips.
So nice pictures ๐ฏ๐

So beautiful! I appreciate the description of the plant from the agave family. I wouldโve guessed it was a flexible plant.
Yes, it looks like it should bend, I was so surprised they were like tree trunks.
Such wonderful pops of color that arise in the desert! Those flowers are definitely blooming where planted ๐
