Not very long, Blue Herons are very patient birds. They can sit still for very long periods of time. So it makes it easier to take their pictures. 🙂

Beautiful scenery Sandra – the sky is lit up and the heron is just pondering life. I often say when I see seagulls, it is like they are staring out to sea, like they’re waiting for their sailor husband to return home. 🙂

Very cool pictures, Sandra. Darren looks like he is wondering at God’s awesome creation. I marvel and guys like him. My parents had a boat dock and a heron just like Darren still hangs around it.
Yes, even the animals are in awe of creation around them. I live how they can stand so still for long periods of time. Teaching us patience, 😊
I have noticed the same thing. They seem like they are willing to wait forever for some fish food to swim by.
Wonderful pictures. There is something about herons. I was astonished to see these long legged birds with a nest in a tree.
Yes, it doesn’t seem possible that they can nest so high. I have not seen it yet myself.
We were staying at an inn in VA and saw them landing and taking from a tree as we watched from our balcony.
